Another case of liberal bias in MSM

Great article pointing out, yet again, the obvious liberal bias in the MSM.

2001: Bush Talking Down the Economy for Political Reason? 2009: Obama Sounds Dire Warning on Economy
President-elect Barack Obama hit the airwaves and sounded a Chicken Little-esque warning to the American people:
“If nothing is done, this recession could linger for years.”
“This is a crisis unlike any we have seen in our lifetime,” he said in a speech in Virginia.

Why we DON’T need Obama’s Generational Theft Act
Brian Reidl with the Heritage Foundation debates Center for American Progress’ James Kvaal on C-SPAN. It’s almost an hour long, but this message needs to be heard!
Enjoy.
Blago Impeached!
Illinois’ state representatives voted overwhelmingly to impeach Governor Rod “The Senate Seat Salesman” Blagojevich. Blago is the first governor in the history of Abe Lincoln’s homestate to earn this (dis)honor.
One dissenter, Chicago Democratic Rep. Milton Patterson voted “present” and replied that he was just doing his job when questioned about the vote.
Other Democratic representatives were quick to claim the curse visited upon them by Blago’s corruption has been lifted. I don’t think we can go that far in a state where corruption and politics have gone hand in hand for as long as anyone can remember. But, they’re probably hoping they can pull the wool over enough eyes to maintain their Democratic domination of state politics when the next elections roll around.
Something tells me the good people of Illinois won’t be so easily fooled and will still be looking for a real “change” when they next get the opportunity to oust the ruling party that has made Illinois the butt of lots of jokes after the Blago corruption came to light.
#TCOT lays out 4 C’s
Top Conservatives on Twitter is a rapidly growing tech-savvy grassroots movement whose members are connected on the social networking site Twitter. Though this group only sprang into existence following November’s elections, it already counts 2,145 members as of this writing.
Unlike some other conservative networks that were created in response to Democrats’ overwhelming victory last year, from the start #TCOT founder Michael P. Leahy and other early members of the group began to organize and implement action projects designed to advance conservative causes.
Today, one of those action projects, Operation Statement of Principles, has resulted in the release of #TCOT’s 4 C’s–the guiding principles of the group.
-
Conservatism
-
Collaboration
-
Constructive Dialogue
-
Community
For a detailed explanation of each “C” click here.
If you agree with these 4 principles and would like to help in the fight to advance the conservative agenda, join us on #TCOT.
Obamatopia not what Dems envisioned
Remember how they gloated on November 4? Do you recall the appearance of cohesiveness displayed after the Dems practically swept the elections?
Oh, all was right with the world, their dream was about to be realized…or was it? After all, their dream was about consolidating power in the hands of “progressive” politicians–translated: those who take money from a few people and give some of it to a lot of other people to buy votes.
Now that unseverable bond in November is beginning to fall apart.
You see, Obama’s Democratic allies were foaming at the mouth to confiscate more of your money to fund their pet projects in their perpetual pursuit of re-election. But shock of all shocks, the other day Obama declared he would ban his former colleagues’ from including pork barrel projects from his stimulus package, promising to post all budget data online and making government spending more transparent.
His liberal buddies didn’t make too many waves over this, probably figuring they had the know how to slip their little projects in without being noticed, or that Obama was just pandering to the crowd and didn’t really mean it. Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND) couldn’t stay completely quiet though and pointed out that “some earmark projects have proven tremendously popular and effective over the years.” And besides, Obama made the remarks after stating his plans to spend almost a trillion dollars to stimulate the economy! The Dems in Congress were probably drooling on themselves thinking about all that money they were going to get to spend.
But today, the seams that coalesced the Democratic Party two short months ago really started loosening. When congressional libs heard the phrase they dread more than any other was part of the plan–tax cuts.
Now I haven’t seen too many details of Obama’s planned tax cuts, so I can’t say if I agree with it or not. But the reaction from some Democrats make clear they don’t like it.
Sen. Conrad’s comments illustrate his ineptitude where the economy’s concerned–”If I’m a business person, it’s unlikely if you give me a several-thousand-dollar credit that I’m going to hire people if I can’t sell the products they’re producing.”
Can the Senator not understand the simple economic concept that more money in the hands of the people increases consumer spending which in turn creates demand for products and services that force employers to hire?
Senator John Kerry (D-MA) would “rather spend the money on the infrastructure, on direct investment, on energy conversion, on other kinds of things that much more directly, much more rapidly and much more certainly create a real job.” You can bet he knows just what projects he has in mind. In other words, he’ll just call his pork projects infrastructure, energy conversion, and other kinds of things to create jobs for which there is no current demand!
Senator Kerry, real jobs are created by consumer spending which is a direct result of consumers keeping more of their own money.
One more Democratic economic genius moron, Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) doesn’t think much of Obama’s proposed tax credits that would put $10-$20 more per week in almost everyone’s pocket. “In tough times people don’t respond all that well to marginal changes, such as a small amount of money added per paycheck,” Wyden said. (Meaning they don’t spend enough money under these circumstances.)
This takes the cake for moronic rationale. Senator Wyden, when “times are tough” it’s because it takes all they have or more to live. Putting a few dollars more in their pockets means they will spend that money because they have to! Consumer spending will increase, and as I’ve already stated, and will drive up demand for goods and services forcing businesses to hire.
Good grief, this isn’t rocket science.
But these Dems who want you to believe that tax cuts are the equivalent of spending already know all this. They really do understand. They just don’t want you to understand. Their power is derived straight from their ability to control how money is spent and what it is spent on. Giving you control of money to stimulate the economy means (in their eyes) taking it away from them and with it goes the ability to wield their power.
As I said earlier, this is not an endorsement of Obama’s tax cuts. Dems have a nasty habit of mislabeling wealth redistribution as tax cuts. We need to see a lot more details before I can say whether I agree with these or not.
I will say though, the fact that these liberal Democrats don’t like it makes me believe at least parts of it may be alright.
Panel Votes to Impeach Blago
#TCOT #diggcons
President-elect Barack Hussein Obama’s old buddy, old pal, old friend Rod “The Senate Seat Salesman” Blagojevich is on track to make history in Illinois, only his story will be a black eye to the state that spawned “Honest Abe” Lincoln. A committee today voted unanimously to recommend impeachment of the Democratic governor and if the full House agrees, Blago will be the first governor in the history of Illinois to earn that badge of (dis)honor.
Panel recommends impeaching BlagojevichCHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — An Illinois legislative committee Thursday unanimously recommended impeaching embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich amid corruption allegations.Blagojevich was arrested last month after federal prosecutors alleged, among other things, that he tried to sell the Senate seat President-elect Barack Obama vacated. The issue will now be taken up by the full Illinois state House of Representatives.“Today is the day that we begin to give back democracy to the people of the state of Illinois,” Democratic Rep. Jack Franks said as he cast his “aye” vote.Blagojevich “has been AWOL and derelict of his duties. He has abused his powers, and he has brought shame to this great state,” Franks said.“I believe that Rod Blagojevich is a liar, and I believe he is a thief,” Franks said. “He has stolen the trust of the people.”…(Read full article) |
Conyers (D-MI) Miffed at Smooth Talker from Chicago Now
#TCOT #diggcons
More trouble for The Smooth Talker from Chicago/Hawaii/Kenya (???)–this time from Rep. John Conyers (D-MI). Conyers is a big proponent of socialized medicine and is spitting mad that Obama’s appointment of CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta opposes such a system.
I guess a Democratic legislator from Michigan (kingdom of the UAW) better understands the pros and cons of such a system than an accomplished brain surgeon? Sure.
Israeli Address to UN Security Council
You can view the entire transcript here on IsraelPolitik.org, but here are some highlights:
Eight years. For eight years the citizens of southern Israel have suffered the trauma of almost daily missile attacks from Gaza. For eight years more than 8,000 rockets and mortar shells have targeted Israeli towns and villages. For eight years the residents of these towns have had a bare 15 seconds to hurry, with their children and their elderly, to find cover before rockets and missiles land on their houses and schools. |
Many in this hall have condemned Hamas’ terrorist attacks, and we welcome this statement of basic principle. But the families at home in the city of Sderot, and children at school in Kibbutz Netiv Ha’asara will not be protected by these condemnations. In the face of such terrorism we have no choice. We have to defend ourselves – not from the Palestinian people, but from the terrorists who have taken them hostage. Not to gain territory or power, but to demonstrate that our restraint was not weakness and to give our citizens the basic right of a normal life. |
Hamas shows a similar disdain for the lives of Palestinians. It has adopted the terrorists’ tactic – the coward’s tactic – of using civilians as shields while its leaders themselves flee from combat with Israel’s soldiers and make pathetic demonstrations of bravado from their bunkers. It hides its missiles and terrorist bases in homes and hospitals and mosques, and, as we saw earlier today, deliberately launches attacks from in and around schools and United Nations’ facilities – with tragic results. |
Since the start of the fighting, Israel facilitated the entry into Gaza of over 540 trucks, delivering over 10,000 tons of humanitarian assistance. In fact, just a few days ago Israel was asked by the World Food Program to halt supplies of food shipments since their warehouses were full. |
As Hamas spokesman Fathi Hamad was proud to announce on Al Aqsa TV: Palestinians have created a human shield of women, children the elderly and the jihad fighters as if to say to the Zionist enemy: “We desire death as you desire life.” |
We, the people of Israel, listened to the international community when you told us to withdraw from Gaza and promised that this would give us the credibility to respond forcefully should Gaza turn into a launching pad for terrorism. We listened when you promised us that acting with restraint during the period of calm would give us the credibility to fight back should the rocket attacks resume. Now is your time to make good on those promises. |
Of course the UN will continue to condemn Israel for defending her citizens against the terror attacks by Hamas, but Ambassador Gabriela Shalev very eloquently made a case that any rational person could understand.
Israelis and Palestinians: Who’s David, Who’s Goliath?–Jewish World Review
Who are the fear mongers?
The dems are screeching from every platform in America about the inevitable destruction of life as we know it if we don’t all lay down and let them steamroll us with what Michelle Malkin has suitably titled The Generational Theft Act of 2009. Obama’s was out the other day guaranteeing us trillion dollar deficits for the foreseeable future, but telling us we should be afraid of what would happen without them. Without digging the deficit hole so deep our great-great grandchildren may not refill it in their lifetimes, things could get really bad according to the President-elect–even dire.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) tells Americans to trust the politicians who passed the laws, catered the corruption, and ignored the warnings that led to our economy’s current unstable foundation–they can fix it. Reminds me of the movie “Fast Times at Ridgemont Hight” when Shawn Penn wrecked the football star’s car and said “I can fix it.” She says we shouldn’t fear mortgaging our grandchildren’s future, but be very afraid of not being able to buy a new big screen TV this year.
If you’ve read my other posts regarding the bailout/stimulus/Socialist spending plans the last few weeks, you already know where I stand. Ronald Reagan said it best when he said, “Government takes from the needy and gives to the greedy.” Fred Thompson does a great job explaining why this plan-to-save-us-from-certain-death is fundamentally flawed here. And you can see another great explanation of the fallacy of Keynesian economics from Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute in this video.
What, you still don’t believe those folks know what they’re talking about? Well, how about two UCLA professors who studied the Great Depression and concluded that Roosevelt’s policies didn’t save us from the Depression, they made it worse! Again, thanks to Michelle Malkin for bringing this study to light. These two professors, from UCLA (not a right-wing think tank by any means) mind you, set out to find why the Great Depression lasted soooooo loooonng and discovered FDR’s attempts to stimulate the economy actually stifled it!
Their conclusion:
“Ironically, our work shows that the recovery would have been very rapid had the government not intervened.” |
