Great job folks! Evidently your pressure on U.S. Senators is encouraging those opposed to transforming the USA into the USSA (United Socialist States of America) to stand their ground. Let’s keep it up.
Continue to call, write, and email US Senators who refuse to reward corporate irresponsibility and subsidize incompetent management. They need to know we stand with them.
$14 billion auto bailout dies in Senate
By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS and KEN THOMAS, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON – A $14 billion emergency bailout for U.S. automakers collapsed in the Senate Thursday night after the United Auto Workers refused to accede to Republican demands for swift wage cuts.
The collapse came after bipartisan talks on the auto rescue broke down over GOP demands that the United Auto Workers union agree to steep wage cuts by 2009 to bring their pay into line with Japanese carmakers.
Here again is our “Gang of 6” who’ve publicly announced their opposition to the bailout. Be sure to let them know it’s appreciated.

Eagle Forum: The end of President Bush’s final term is quickly approaching. Less than two months remain until he hands over the White House keys to Barack Obama, but we cannot let him leave office without resolving one very important issue: he must commute the prison sentences of convicted U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean!
Not only do we now know that the agents did not get a fair trial and that the prosecution’s case was based on the word and testimony of an illegal drug smuggler, but the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld their mandatory minimum 10-year prison sentences for “discharging a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence.” This law, Section 924(c) of the U.S. Code, has always been interpreted to apply to criminals, not law enforcement officers engaged in their official duties. Every U.S. citizen has the right to self defense, especially those serving in harm’s way.

Gotta love this!
Hopefully this idiot will help a Republican take Obama’s seat.
Blagojevich on the job despite calls to quit
By Michael Conlon and Andrew Stern
CHICAGO (Reuters) – Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich clung to his office on Thursday despite mounting pressure to quit, including a renewed call for his resignation from an “appalled” President-elect Barack Obama.
The 52-year-old Democrat left his home in Chicago, once again eluding a news media crowd waiting outside, driving to an undisclosed location two days after he was charged with trying to shake down people for political favors.
At the same time Obama was telling reporters at a news conference elsewhere in Chicago that he had ordered an investigation to find out what if any contacts his staff had with Blagojevich before the governor was arrested on Tuesday and later freed.
“I had no contact with the governor’s office. I did not speak to the governor about these issues. That I know for certain,” Obama said.

Governors press Congress for state fiscal relief
By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON – A trio of governors came to Capitol Hill on Thursday to plead with lawmakers for relief from crushing state fiscal woes caused by a huge slump in revenues as the recession deepens.Governors across the country have already pared payrolls, delayed infrastructure and cut aid to municipal government. In testimony before the House Appropriations Committee, Wisconsin Democrat Jim Doyle, New Jersey Democrat Jon Corzine and Vermont Republican Jim Douglas say they’re looking at cratering tax revenues. That means even bigger — and far more painful — cuts are coming.
Doyle told lawmakers that he’s facing a $5.4 billion, 17 percent budget gap in his upcoming fiscal plan. That’s on top of a 10 percent cut already made to Wisconsin’s state workforce.
Corzine says governors could use up to $100 billion to help with day-to-day operating costs, in addition to a recent $40 billion request over two years to help fund the Medicaid program for the poor and disabled and up to $136 billion for infrastructure projects like road and bridge repair.
Without help, the governors said, the cuts to state services and infrastructure projects would take money out of the economy, deepening recession.

Looks like we have Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-KY, now!
By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS and KEN THOMAS, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON – Prospects for passage of a $14 billion auto industry rescue package dimmed Thursday amid strong Republican opposition, despite urgent appeals by both President-elect Barack Obama and the Bush White House.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell came out against the legislation — the product of a hard-fought behind-the-scenes compromise between the majority Democrats and the White House. And not even the White House’s argument that it was crucial at a time of rising joblessness seemed to restore lost momentum for enactment.
So let’s call this group the “Gang of 6”
Let them know you appreciate their opposition to the “American Socialist Experiment Act”!

Though many would have you believe the Republican Party is shuffling along to the sound of a funeral march after the blow dealt in last month’s elections, the GOP may actually rebound quicker than anyone anticipates.
My father always told me you never lose a fight until you quit getting up after being knocked down. Though many of the party leaders are still shaking their heads in disbelief, pointing fingers, and wondering just what in the Hell happened, small groups of passionate conservatives are springing into action in an effort to rejuvenate the party through a return to its conservative roots.
Organizations like Rebuild the Party (RTP) and Top Conservatives on Twitter (TCOT) are using social networking sites on the web to join forces, discuss strategy, and organize grassroots efforts. Still in their infancy, these groups have quickly grown their numbers into the 1000’s.
They’re not just trying to recruit new GOP voters though, they’re also working to have a say in the direction of the RNC. Blogs and websites are springing up daily to carry the message that can counteract the liberal mainstream media’s domination of the supply chain for news and information.
If you’re longing for a truly conservative Republican Party again, join us today and help make it happen!

After three nearly uninterrupted years of favorable political news, Democrats have finally hit a rough patch.
Over a period of less than 10 days, Democrats have seen their nominee go down in defeat in the Georgia Senate runoff— eliminating the prospect of a filibuster-proof majority—lost two winnable House races in Louisiana and witnessed House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) sink deeper into ethics trouble.
Then there’s the still-unfolding Illinois Senate debacle, which exposed Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s tawdry attempts to auction off President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat and forced Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) to hold a press conference Wednesday denying any inappropriate discussions with the governor.

Even after yesterday’s march toward Socialism, we still have an opportunity to put a halt to this bailout mess. Don’t forget there are (at last count) 5 Republican Senators who’ve agreed to filibuster the “American Socialism Experiment Act.”
Let’s make sure and let them know they’re not standing on an island. The more supportive calls and emails they receive, the more likely they’ll get others to join them. This is an excellent opportunity for every American concerned with the rapidly approaching United Socialist States of America (USSA) to become involved–and it doesn’t even require much time or effort.
Below are the names of the 5 Senators, linked to their websites where you can do your part by contacting them and expressing your support.
Help us keep this country the USA, not the USSA, by contacting them today and expressing your support for the filibuster.
You can also contact your Senators using the links on the right side of this page under the heading “Contact Elected Officials” to let them know this is a CHANGE we do not want!
I’ve sent the following message to each of the 5 (feel free to copy and paste if you’d like):
“Thanks for standing up against Socialism in our country.
I wanted you to know that conservative Americans across the country appreciate your willingness to fight for our values and filibuster the Auto Bailout.
God bless!”
