Funny Business in Minnesota

from WSJ–Opinion

Strange things keep happening in Minnesota, where the disputed recount in the Senate race between Norm Coleman and Al Franken may be nearing a dubious outcome. Thanks to the machinations of Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and a meek state Canvassing Board, Mr. Franken may emerge as an illegitimate victor.

Mr. Franken started the recount 215 votes behind Senator Coleman, but he now claims a 225-vote lead and suddenly the man who was insisting on “counting every vote” wants to shut the process down. He’s getting help from Mr. Ritchie and his four fellow Canvassing Board members, who have delivered inconsistent rulings and are ignoring glaring problems with the tallies.

Smut Sales Down, Porn Needs Bailout

#TCOT #diggcons

These girls could be the next to lose their jobs!

How can you say no to faces..wait.. (edited) like this?

I can’t help it, I have to say it!  I told you so!  After the “Bailout Bill for the Big Banks” was passed, I knew there would be no end to people, businesses and entire industries standing in line with their hands out and pockets empty.

Well, the latest industry to call on Congress for a $5 billion bailout doesn’t have empty pockets–they don’t have any pockets at all!  The newest bunch of solicitors seeking your hard-earned money have employees who don’t even wear clothes to work.  Who are they?

The publisher of Hustler magazine, Larry Flynt,  and the CEO of Girls Gone Wild, Joe Francis claim that porn is a vital American industry that deserves a taxpayer bailout too!  Flynt goes so far as to claim that failure to dole out government dollars to shore up the smut industry would present a danger to the health of the nation.

“People are too depressed to be sexually active,” Flynt says, “This is very unhealthy as a nation.* Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex.”

*emphasis added

If that’s not depraved enough to convince Congress that the US will fail to exist as we know it if naked men and women are forced to stand in unemployment lines, try this–Congress has a duty to make Americans horny according to Flynt!

“With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind,” Flynt says, “It’s time for congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America.* The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly.”

*emphasis added

This would be funny if I was certain the Democratic controlled Congress wouldn’t stoop so low as to take money from my pocket to fill the G-strings of these poor men and women who suffer so much in this economy that they must resort to rubbing their naked bodies over other hot young bodies in order to make a living. Since I’m not convinced, it’s depressing.

Francis wants Congress to empathize with the American citizens who patronize the porn industry. How will these citizens of our country survive if something so near and dear to their heart as their nudie magazines and XXX videos suddenly became unavailable?

Francis says, “Its [porn’s] emergence into the mainstream of popular culture suggests that the US government should actively support the adult industry’s survival and growth, just as it feels the need to support any other industry cherished by the American people.”*

*emphasis added

You dont want her on food stamps do you?

You don't want her on food stamps do you?

I know what you’re thinking: Surely the Democrats wouldn’t stoop so low as to tax dollars in the pockets G-strings of the porn kings and queens? Okay, what if I told you these brokers of smut contributed heavily to the campaigns of well known democrats?

According to this article, Obama’s campaign received $1000’s from gay porn baron Terry Bean. Larry Flynt contributed $1000’s to Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and the Democratic National Committee. Joe Francis donated $4000 to Senator John Kerry (D-MA) in 2004. We’ll have to watch how these two Democrats vote on the upcoming “Save the Smut Sales Bill.”

This won’t be the end. I don’t know what could top this request for our hard-earned dollars to shore up smut in America, but you can bet there will be more and more grovelers for the manna taken from hard working Americans to line the pockets and G-strings of incompetent, irresponsible CEO’s of inefficient and ineffective companies.

Work hard America, then work harder and remember you are your brother’s and sister’s keeper–even if your brother and sister make their living having sex with farm animals.

Joe the Plumber has a new profession

#TCOT #diggcons

Good old Joe, who called Obama on the carpet and flustered the then-candidate Obama so much that he actually took a position–telling us we would be required to pay more taxes and “share the wealth” under an Obama administration, is heading to Israel.

No, not to fix Palestinian plumbing problems but to document the lives of Israeli “average Joe’s” during the crisis.  He’ll be under the employ of

I expect he’ll do a far better job than the so-called “journalists” who spread Hamas propaganda at MSNBC.

Global warming…uh, cooling…uh, something kills 12

#TCOT #diggcons

What the “Chicken Little” crowd crowing about Global Warming doesn’t want to hear:

12 deaths blamed on snow and cold across Europe

MILAN, Italy – Freezing temperatures and exceptional snowfall caused travel delays Wednesday across Europe and were blamed for at least 12 deaths, including that of a man in Milan who was crushed when a canopy collapsed under the weight of snow.

In Poland, the Interior Ministry said at least 10 people have frozen to death due to temperatures reaching minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 25 Celsius ).

Italian police said a Milan businessman standing on his balcony was killed when the snow brought down a canopy and part of a wall. A 47-year-old Serbian was found frozen to death in his home in the town of Zagarolo, east of Rome.

Here’s a video of a CNN meteorologist debunking the man-made Global Warming theory and this post (complete with a graph) explains how the data touted by politically motivated supporters/espousers of the theory has been tweaked to show a warming trend on the planet, when the hard data actually indicates a cooling trend.

So don’t break out the short pants and bikinis this winter, even if fire-breathing Al Gore tells you its hotter than it’s ever been.  Someone might also want to let this bear know it’s not yet time for him to take to the beach.

US Officials Denounce Hamas/Support Israel

#TCOT #diggcons

Straight from the blogs and press releases of your elected officials.  I’ll update this post as I find more.

If you know of a Senator or Congressperson who has issued a press release or other public statement recognizing Israel’s right to defend itself against terror attacks by Hamas, leave a comment with a link and I’ll add it as soon as possible.

Senator Kit Bond (R-MO)

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Kit Bond, Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, today voiced his support for Israel ’s response to Hamas-led attacks on the Democratic nation.

“ Israel has every right to defend its borders and protect its people,” said Bond. “With their unprovoked attacks on Israel , Hamas is demonstrating their true commitment is to violence, not peace.”

Bond, who two weeks ago returned from a visit to Israel, pointed out that Israel offered an olive branch by fully disengaging from Gaza in August of 2005. Unfortunately, the Israelis’ peace offering has been met with continued rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel . These Hamas-led attacks have increased by 500 percent since disengagement and during the informal six-month cease-fire some 215 rockets were launched at Israel.

Bond urged President-elect Obama and the new Democratic-led Congress to continue strong support for Israel . Bond emphasized that America and the international community must also be committed to securing a just and peaceable agreement between Israel and Palestine through a two-state solution.

“It is critical that America remain steadfast in our support of Israel ’s right to exist and protect its borders,” said Bond. “I hope President-elect Obama uses his new momentum in office to push for a two-state solution that will bring lasting peace to Israelis and Palestinians living in this troubled region.”

Essential to supporting Israel ’s sovereignty is continuing American-Israeli defense cooperation, said Bond. The United States must provide Israel with anti-missile defense systems, like Arrow 3 which Bond supported funding for, that will help keep the Israeli people safe from the multiple dangers they face in the region.

In addition to diplomatic and military efforts, Bond noted the importance of American support for humanitarian – or “Smart Power” initiatives to promote peace. While in Israel, Bond was briefed on the success of these initiatives in influencing hearts and minds, like USAID clean sewer and water infrastructure projects in both Israel and Palestinian communities. Bond also pointed to the Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem , which predominantly serves pregnant Palestinian mothers and babies, as a shining example of promoting peace through serving the poor. Bond secured federal funding for Holy Family Hospital which provides quality health care regardless of religion or ethnicity.

Senator John Ensign (R-NV)

Washington, D.C. – Senator John Ensign issued this statement in response to the continuation of attacks by Hamas on civilian targets in Israel:

“The right of the people of Israel to defend themselves is not negotiable. Leaders around the world should join together and call on Hamas to stop their civilian-aimed attacks immediately, and Israel will respond accordingly. My thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims—on both sides—of Hamas’ reign of terror.”

Senator Jim Demint (R-SC)

Hamas Must Stop Attacks Now

I’m deeply troubled by the recent rocket and mortar attacks on Israel launched by Hamas. No one should have to live in constant fear and no sovereign nation can stand by while their citizens are attacked daily by terrorists.

Years ago, Israel controlled Gaza and surrendered authority over the area in order to broker a better peace. In exchange, Israel has patiently waited for Hamas to renounce its violent ways, act responsibly, recognize Israel’s right to exist, and come to the negotiating table. However, it is clear Hamas has no intention of living peacefully with Israel. With an unwillingness to move forward, Israel has every right to take the necessary steps to protect and defend its citizens and target those who preach hate and violence.

Israelis and Palestinians both deserve to live in peace, and I have always hoped a safe and secure Israel could live side by side with a sovereign and peaceful Palestine. Through their actions, members of Hamas have made it clear the organization is nothing more than a mouth piece and aggressive arm of the Iranians that cannot act independently for the benefit of the Palestinian people. Hamas must renounce violence and act as an honest broker. If it does not, it will be the responsibility of every nation in the Middle East to shut down the long supply lines of rockets, bullets and bombs that run from Iran to Hamas in Gaza.

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX)

Sen. Cornyn Statement On Israel’s Right To Defend Itself Against Terrorists

WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, made the following statement regarding the current situation in Gaza.“It is the fundamental right of every sovereign nation to defend itself and its people when attacked by an enemy, Israel’s recent defensive military operations in the Gaza Strip against Hamas have been both warranted and fully justified. Recent actions by Hamas – deliberately targeting innocent civilians for death and destruction and using innocent Palestinians as human shields – have reminded the world that Hamas is nothing more than a terrorist organization driven by hatred, fear and radical ideology. Hamas continues to stand as a roadblock to peace in the region, and it must be dealt with accordingly.“Israel is and has been a great friend to the United States, and the Israeli people remain our steadfast allies in the war on terror. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that the United States continue to stand beside Israel as we continue the shared struggle against extremists whose primary objectives are the destruction of both our nations and our shared values of freedom and liberty.”
