’45 Million Americans’ — Who Are Those Guys? Part 2

by Larry Elder on Townhall.com

Last week’s article on why 45 million Americans go without health care insurance touched a nerve and generated many questions and assertions:

“You and your pesky statistics! Forty-five million Americans without health care is huge. And you wrote that 89 percent of the 85 percent of people with health insurance are satisfied. That means 25 percent of all Americans are unsatisfied!”

Elder: Those “pesky” statistics become especially pesky when misstated. I wrote that 45 million Americans have no health insurance, leaving 85 percent with health insurance — but not without health care. ERs must treat the uninsured, including illegal residents. Meanwhile, 89 percent of Americans — with or without insurance — are satisfied with the quality of their own health care.

Obama to Iran: Let Them Eat Ice Cream

by Ann Coulter on Townhall.com

On Iran, President Obama is worse than Hamlet. He’s Colin Powell, waiting to see who wins before picking a side.

Last week, massive protests roiled Iran in response to an apparently fraudulent presidential election, in which nutcase Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner within two hours of the polls closing. (ACORN must be involved.)

Obama responded by boldly declaring that the difference between the loon Ahmadinejad and his reformist challenger, Mir Hossein Mousavi, “may not be as great as advertised.”

Maybe the thousands of dissenters risking their lives protesting on the streets of Tehran are doing so because they liked Mousavi’s answer to the “boxers or briefs” question better than Ahmadinejad’s.

Tell your Rep. “We can’t afford Dems’ ENERGY TAX!”

from ARRA News Service

Action Alert: Friday, the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (the “Cap and Trade Energy Bill”) that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by giving the federal government the power to limit the amount of oil, gasoline, coal, and other fossil fuels used by American utilities and industry. This is a bill that could fundamentally alter the American economy, dramatically affect the climate, and have huge implications for our national security. But, right now no one knows what’s in the bill or how it came to be.

Let your Representatives know that we can’t afford the Democrat’s Energy Tax!  You can find links to contact your representatives on the right side of this page.

Here we go again: GOP committing suicide

Just when Conservatives were gaining ground (see here, here, and here), two Republicans who were among the most respected in our community have been caught with their pants down…literally.  What in the Hell is wrong with these idiots?

Last week, Sen. Ensign (R-NV) admitted having an affair with a member of his campaign staff.  This is the same Senator who called for the resignation of Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) when he was caught soliciting gay sex in the restroom of an airport and President Clinton after his infidelity in the White House came to light.  Ensign referred to Craig as a “disgrace” and said Clinton “has no credibility left.”  Now his escapades have exposed him as a hypocrite and the Conservative philosophy will pay the price.

And if the Ensign affair didn’t do enough damage, today another rising star in the Republican party crashed to the ground after disappearing for four days and reappearing to reveal his own philandering.  South Carolina Gov. Mark Stanford, who made national headlines when he attempted to refuse federal dollars from the Obama “stimulus” package bound for his state, publicly admitted that he too has been unfaithful to his wife.  And again, the Conservative cause suffers a staggering blow.

Both Ensign and Sanford have resigned their party leadership positions, but neither has offered to resign from their elected office.  More ammunition for the left-wing press and blogosphere to dismantle what had been growing support for Conservative ideology and to bolster support of Democrats’ Socialist agenda.  And that’s the worst part of these revelations.

These two have not only inflicted terrible pain on their families, but also on present and future generations of Americans.  Their infidelity undermines what was the American people’s growing trust in the GOP and a Conservative approach to governing our country.  Their selfish actions will not only injure their families, but mine and yours as well.  Our children will suffer because many voters who recently switched to supporting our philosophy and those who would have soon switched will likely return to the party that panders to and embraces morally bankrupt philanderers.  And every day they remain in office, every statement they release, and every appearance they make will remind voters of their betrayal.  That betrayal won’t simply be attributed to these two hypocrites, but will also be assigned to the GOP.

These two lying, cheating bastards have just counterracted months of effort many of us have expended in an effort to rebuild the Republican party since the November election.  As bad as I hate the thought of President Obama having filibuster-proof control of the Senate, I hate the thought of a low-life hypocritical scumbag like Ensign remaining in place representing the GOP even more.  Virginia and North Carolina turned blue last November, and Sanford’s refusal to resign in South Carolina may be enough to turn that state blue as well.

So I just want to give a big, facetious Thank You to these two worthless bastards.  And to any other Republican politicians who profess to stand for family values while screwing around on their spouse…take your lying, cheating, worthless asses over to the party that encourages broken promises, broken marriages, and broken lives now! That’s where you belong.

You can read Sanford’s emails between the lying, cheating philanderer and his mistress here.

Obama’s Iran Policy is a Bomb

by Jonah Goldberg on Townhall.com

Here is the one immutable fact of Barack Obama’s foreign policy agenda as it relates to Iran: It’s over. The rule book he came in with is as irrelevant as a tourist guide to the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

If the forces of reform and democracy win, Obama’s plan to negotiate with the regime is moot, for the regime will be gone. And if the forces of reform are crushed into submission by the regime, Obama’s plan is moot, because the regime will still be there.

Politics and decency will simply demand that the world condemn or shun the regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei if they come out on top. Even the most soulless realists will be repulsed by the blood on the regime’s collective hands.

Who’s Funding the Obamacare Campaign?

by Michelle Malkin on Townhall.com

If you believe the White House, there are 30 million Americans who support a government health care takeover. But if you look at the funding behind the Obamacare campaign, it’s the same few leftist billionaires, union bosses and partisan community organizers pushing the socialized medicine agenda. Let’s connect the dots.

On Thursday, a national “grassroots” coalition called Health Care for America Now (HCAN) will march on Capitol Hill to demand universal health care. The ground troops won’t have to march very far. HCAN, you see, is no heartland network. It is headquartered at 1825 K Street in Washington, D.C. — smack dab in the middle of Beltway lobby land.

In fact, 1825 K Street is Ground Zero for a plethora of “progressive” groups subsidized by anti-war, anti-Republican, Big Nanny special interests.

You won’t see this on ABC’s Obamacare infomercial

ABC is donating it’s airwaves to President Obama to help him sell his ‘Obamacare.’  This wouldn’t be so bad, but the network is refusing to allow any point of view other than the administration’s.  In so doing, ABC has become more of an Obama operative than a journalistic entity.  The broadcasting company has even refused to allow the Republican National Committee to run a paid ad to present its approach to solve the health care crisis.  So we now have a major network submitting itself to the President to do his bidding.

ABC won’t let the opposing view be heard, but you can hear it here.

Obama’s Magic Math

President Obama’s using that magic math again. You know, the same math he used to calculate the number of jobs he’s “saved” since passing the stimulus.  The same math that can’t be explained by anyone in his administration and can’t be duplicated by anyone outside of his administration.

But hey, I guess you can’t blame the guy for using formulas that have the capability to make losing millions of jobs (since the passage of the stimulus) sound like a positive thing.   The problem is, no one can seem to point to those formulas, no one can say “Here’s how we arrived at that number.”  So it’s looking more and more like there are no valid mathematics generating the numbers the President puts forth, he’s just throwing out numbers to make his catastrophic policies sound more palatable to the American people.

Now he’s expanded the use his mystical mathematics.  Stepping outside the realm of “saved jobs,” the President is using his mystical mathematical powers to predict $80 billion in savings to American seniors for their prescription drugs, but only offer an explanation for ~$30 billion of that total.  The other $50 billion couldn’t be explained by the White House.

I guess $30 billion just didn’t sound good enough, so Obama pulled out his magic calculator to make it sound better.

David vs. Goliath of Governmental Agencies

by Chuck Norris on Townhall.com

One of the most hideous ways the Internal Revenue Service usurps power and control over Americans is through its oppression over nonprofits, especially religious groups. Threatening to withdraw tax-exempt status and to levy penalties are just a couple of ways it exercises its tyranny.

For example, April 3, Catholic Answers, one of the nation’s largest lay-run apologetic (or defense) ministries for the Catholic movement, filed suit in federal court against the IRS for violating its right to free speech.

What spurred on the lawsuit is that the IRS imposed fines on Catholic Answers because Catholic Answers’ president, Karl Keating, wrote in one of his “E-letters” that 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry shouldn’t be allowed to receive the Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) because of his pro-abortion stance, advocacy and voting record. Whether you agree or not, Keating was voicing his conviction and opinion, which he has a First Amendment right to do. At no point did Catholic Answers even tell people for whom to vote or not to vote.
