Obama Approval Continues Decline

Today’s Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll numbers are out and things aren’t looking too rosy for our Socialist President and his policies.  Last month we saw Obama’s Presidential Approval Index* reach zero for the first time since taking office, then go negative.  Today marks yet another first for the President–the first time the Index has remained negative for 3 consecutive days.

After dipping to new lows last month, the President received a boost for several days that sent the Index well into positive territory.  The Index spiked following Obama’s speech to the Muslim world in Cairo early last month and rose as high as +9 immediately after his deceptive announcement that he would implement a pay-as-you-go system in his administration.  But the public couldn’t be fooled long as the true effects of his policies continued to come to light.

The CBO announced his health care plan would cover fewer and cost more than Obama led the country to believe.   Iran erupted in a wave of pro-democracy demonstrations and the President responded with silence, then ambivalence, and then only half-hearted support for the repressed freedom seekers.   These events led to the erosion of the President’s approval and the Index again began slipping.

The bad news for Obama outweighed the events that helped him last month.  The GOP stumbled and Obama’s numbers temporarily recovered when Senator Ensign (R-NV) and Governor Sanford (R-SC) admitted to betraying their wives.  And after ABC donated airtime to help Obama sell his Socialist policies to the American public, the Index perked up a bit for the President.  But these gifts weren’t enough in the end to bring a halt to the downward trend of Americans approval for the Socialist President.

I’ve updated the trend lines based on Rasmussen’s data and you can see the new graphs below.  You can see the Strongly Approve/Disapprove lines have now crossed.  The overall Approve/Disapprove lines have drawn slightly closer together.  Last month’s lines predicted convergence around the 228th day of Obama’s presidency.  This month’s updated lines now indicate those who approve will equal those who disapprove on the 208th day.

With the battle over health care reform coming up and Cap & Trade legislation now in the hands of the Senate, it’s important for conservative Republicans in Congress to keep up the pressure to maintain our momentum.  Though we don’t yet have the upper hand, we’re gaining ground.  Let’s keep it that way.

*Rasmussen’s Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the percentage of those who Strongly Disapprove of the President’s job performance from those who Strongly Approve.

My Nobel Prize for Economics

by Rich Galen on

How much do Members of the U.S. House and Senate make? Are they suffering as are regular people? Do they feel the pain of tax increases and new regulations?

In reverse order: No. No. And $174,000 per year.

In addition Members of Congress get a tax break on their housing, have health care completely paid for by you and me, and have a pretty good retirement system although the other benefits are so good you can’t get them to retire much before their 113th birthday, on average.

That $174,000 is for the rank-and-file, show-up-for-work four-days-a-week members of the House and Senate. You want to be really aggravated? The Speaker of the House, who happens to be Nancy Pelosi, and who happens to be one of the wealthiest members of Congress, makes $223,500.

And she gets to fly home on an Air Force jet which the rank-and-file, show-up-for-work four-days-a-week members of the House and Senate do not get to do.

I do not mention this because I am particularly angry with Members of the House and Senate – at least not any more than usual. I mention all this because of California.

The California fiscal year ended at midnight last night, June 30. They ain’t got no money.

California – the state which is held in such high regard by the Obama Administration that they just shoved through a global warming bill which is largely based on California standards – is more than in fiscal distress. It is bankrupt. Bust. Broke. Penniless. Insolvent.

’45 Million Americans’ – Who Are These Guys? Part 3

by Larry Elder on

“President Barack Obama says that he can pay for his goal to provide health care insurance for every American without it. Why isn’t that good enough for you?”

Elder: Yes, the President says that he can “pay for” his goal of providing health insurance for every American without it. Care to bet on that?

When government proposes a program, the ultimate price tag inevitably exceeds projections. In “Why Government Doesn’t Work,” libertarian Harry Browne wrote: “Most older people now find it harder to get adequate medical service. Naturally, the government points to the higher costs and shortages as proof that the elderly would be lost without Medicare — and that government should be even more deeply involved. When Medicare was set up in 1965, the politicians projected its cost in 1990 to be $3 billion — which is equivalent to $12 billion when adjusted for inflation to 1990 dollars. The actual cost in 1990 was $98 billion — eight times as much.”

Unemployment up again!

Last month, the unemployment rate climbed higher than the Not-So-Omniscient Obama promised it would if Congress rammed through HIS stimulus package.  He predicted unemployment would go no higher than 8% if the stimulus passed, 9% if it didn’t.  Last month it reached 9.4% and this month it climbed again to 9.5%.

Understand, it’s worse than the Obama administration ever predicted it would be if the “stimulus” didn’t pass.  It’s not a great leap to infer his stimulus plan actually made things worse than they would have been had it not passed!  Below is the graph the administration put out to sell its “stimulus” plan, overlaid with the actual data for the last few months.

So much for salvation at the hands of our Socialist President.

So much for stimulus creating green jobs

Early last month, LM Glasfiber in Little Rock announced it would cut more than 20% of it’s workforce because it doesn’t have enough orders.  In this day and age, that doesn’t sound quite remarkable does it?  But…

The plant makes windmill blades.  You know, those giant windmills that produce clean energy that were going to sprout from the ground like spring daisies if the stimulus bill passed.  These are green jobs being lost–the very jobs Obama announced would be created by HIS economic package.

June 8, 2009

Windmill blade maker LM Glasfiber said Monday it will lay off about 80 workers at its Port of Little Rock plant…

After the layoffs, about 300 people will remain on Glasfiber’s payroll…

Perhaps our President’s mathematical magicians will spin this as Obama saving 300 jobs.

So we’re losing green jobs, and non-green jobs, even though Congress has bowed and given the community organizer virtually everything he’s asked for, everything that he insisted would turn our economy around and result in millions and millions of green jobs.  Where are they Mr. President?

How long will worshippers of the Obamessiah go on believing his nonsense?  His supposed stimulus is a failure on all fronts.

Update–Check out this post on ARRA News Service that has John Boehner’s new video that features bloodhounds searching for the millions of jobs Obama’s stimulus was promised to create or save.
