America, You Asked For It!

Political News and Commentary from the Right

Down, down, down he goes…

Is it his insistence on imposing government-run healthcare on a leery populace? Or could it be that calling the cops stupid for arresting his loud mouthed friend?

It doesn’t matter.

Just a few months ago, liberals were digging the grave for the conservative movement.  Certain they’d permanently prevailed on the heels of Obama’s historic election, they set about ramming their Socialist agenda down the throats of all Americans in an attempt to bury conservatism forever.  Using tactics more common among union thugs and other organized crime, they seized control of private industry, spent hundreds of billions on wasteful projects to line the pocket of special interests, and cut the legs from under an already staggering economy.

All of this happened with virtually no support from Republicans in Congress. Liberals everywhere warned Republicans were further alienating themselves in the eyes of the American public, calling the GOP “the party of NO.” Some RINOs trembled with fear while those of us who truly believe conservative principles make our country stronger and more prosperous insisted the path back to victory wasn’t to fall in step with our liberal foes, but to charge headlong into the center of their ranks. Ignoring warnings from Dems and RINOs alike, real conservatives in the Republican party stood our ground and took the fight to the enemy. Rather than retreat we went on offense.

It took a few months, but now we have them on the run! Blue Dog Democrats are feeling the pressure from their constituents and our constant bombardment of their complicity in quadrupling the national deficit to squander our hard-earned money on legislators’ pet pork projects. Harry Reid announced yesterday the Senate would not meet Obama’s mandate to rush a health care bill through Congress by the August recess. Then Obama stepped on his own land mine when he called a good cop stupid. Their battle plan is being shredded and their troops are beginning to desert!

The best of news came today in the form of Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll. I’ve been following this poll for a couple of months now and until today, Obama had always enjoyed a higher approval than disapproval rating. Today that all changed.

For the first time in his Presidency, more likely voters in America disapprove of his job performance than approve. As of today, 49% approve and 51% disapprove of Obama’s leadership.

It looks like America wasn’t ready to swallow Obama’s “change” after all.

Obamacare: The House Bill and Obama’s Lies

Let’s start a little series here.  I’ve been combing through the Democrat’s 1,018 page health care plan and comparing Obama’s claims to what I read in the bill. It’s slow going because the legislation is written to intentionally confuse those trying to understand it, but we’ll forge ahead.

We heard him state, “I don’t want to run the car companies.”  Then he seized them.  We saw him quadruple the deficit, then claim he wanted a “paygo” system implemented to ensure fiscal responsibility.  We heard him insist there would be no earmarks in his “stimulus” bill, then defend the earmarks discovered after its passage.

How many lies, how much hypocrisy must we endure before everyone recognizes the President’s limitless lies?

Judging from his health care propaganda, a lot more.

So far, the only detailed plan released by Congress has been the 1,018 page House version that has won complimentary remarks from Obama.  I’ll take these remarks to infer that he supports this version and he’d sign the bill if it landed on his desk.

“I thank Chairmen Rangel, Waxman, and Miller for their hard work on this bill that fundamentally reforms the health care system. As this process moves forward, I look forward to continuing to work with all House members in ensuring this legislation helps all Americans and plays an essential role in reducing deficits and bringing fiscal sustainability to our nation.”–President Obama

Now, Obama’s support of this plan makes him a liar on numerous counts.

Obamacare Lie #1

The President has said, “I don’t believe that government can or should run health care.

But, on page 317 of the Democrats’ plan that Obama supports, we find that hospitals will be required to apply for permission to expand.  In other words, as of the date this bill becomes law, every hospital in the land cannot grow without the permission of the government.  If the bill became law today, a hospital with 100 patient beds couldn’t add a new wing, even if it was consistently overflowing with patients, unless the government granted it permission.

If you’re shaking your head, saying “Yeah, but you know they’d grant permission if that were the case,” think again.  Because the restrictions on granting such permission begin on page 321.  Here we see that “persons and entities” in the community must have input.  So a public hearing must be held to get the local gas station clerk’s ideas on the advisability and necessity of the hospital’s expansion?  What sense doesn that make?

But that’s not all.  There are more government restrictions on any medical facility’s ability to expand its services.  Hospitals may only apply for permission to expand once every two year.  No more.  Regardless of the growth of a community, it’s local hospital’s ability to expand its facilities to meet demand is limited by the government.

One more restriction on hospitals’ growth.  No hospital may ever expand to more than 200% of its size on the date this bill becomes law.  Ever.  So a hospital with thirty beds the day this bill becomes law will never be allowed to expand larger than 60 beds.  A hospital with two operating rooms at that time,  may never grow to have more than four.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is government run healthcare.  The government will determine when and if health care providers can expand to better serve their customers.  Then, regardless of the growth of a community, Uncle Sam will not allow providers to expand beyond twice their size when Obamacare becomes law.

Obamacare is government run health care.  So the President’s claim that he doesn’t believe government should run health care is lie #1.
