Majority Realizes Our Only Hope is to Stop the Change!

Hope and Change.

That’s what President Obama promised on the campaign trail last year and voters lapped it up.  Our President, who had less executive experience than most hot dog vendors at the time of his election, has pressed hard to fulfill the second half of his slogan but obviously missed the mark on the first part.  Since January, he’s fed American citizens a steady diet of radical Change that’s left them feeling more Despair than Hope.

Maybe that’s why his poll numbers are consistently bottoming out.  Gallup, Rasmussen, and Zogby are all showing the President’s approval ratings at or near their low points for his presidency–below 50%.  But Obama refuses to believe his policies are to blame, and even continues to push his Democratic allies in Congress toward political suicide by twisting their arms to coerce them to support his Socialist agenda.

Most Americans have figured out that Obamanomics isn’t working, but the President believes he’s persuasive enough that he can feed them s**t and make them believe it’s chocolate.  Though not one element of his radical Change can be viewed as successful, he continues to press forward with the most radical element of his planned Change–a government takeover of the US health care system–and tries to convince us we’ll be better off with bureaucrats deciding what doctors we can see, what treatments we receive, and what medicines we’re prescribed.

His record thus far demonstrates why a majority of Americans think there’s a better way than Obama’s way.

His stimulus was supposed to keep unemployment from reaching 9% (what the administration predicted it would reach without his stimulus package).  We were told his trillion dollar stimulus package would create economic growth that would cause the unemployment rate to peak at 8% this past summer and spur job growth that would have already begun offering Hope to those looking for work.

But his stimulus package didn’t turn the tide, didn’t stimulate the economy, and didn’t create jobs.  The President’s stimulus actually stimulated the unemployment rate, which spiked to 10.2% last month–13% higher than he predicted it would have reached without the stimulus, and 27% higher than we were promised it would reach if we allowed him to squander another trillion of our hard earned dollars.

He promised time and again throughout the campaign he’d never raise taxes on middle class families, but he’s supported the Cap & Trade bill in the house that promises to raise the average American family’s utility bill by $1700 per year through increased taxes that will certainly be passed on to consumers.  Even his number one priority–creating a government run health care system–promises tons of new taxes that middle class families will be saddled with.

Obama thought he’d finally found a feather for his cap when he blew $3 billion on the Cash-4-Clunkers program this summer.  Though the administration touted it as a success, others recognized that whatever benefit the program provided the economy was temporary at best and short-changing future auto sales at worst.  Later we learned each vehicle sold through the program cost the American taxpayer $24,000.   Unsustainable and too costly, this program can also be chalked up as one of the President’s failures.

His foreign policy failures are as glaring as his domestic failures.  Campaigning on a promise to sit down with America’s enemies, he sold citizens on the idea that our differences were of our own making and the hearts of our enemies would soften, tyrants would become amiable, and the lamb would lie down with the lion in all corners of the globe.

But our enemies didn’t lie down, they didn’t become amiable, and Obama’s naivete only served to harden their hearts and strengthen their resolve to challenge us all the more.  Iran’s bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators, North Korea’s barrage of missiles, and the failure to act in the face of a rapidly growing Taliban resurgence in Afghanistan have proven the President completely incompetent in matters of foreign affairs.

And now, in a resounding slap to the face of all survivors of the victims on 9/11, against the will of a majority of Americans, the administration has announced the Guantanamo Bay terrorists will be tried in civilian courts in New York City!  Including admitted 9/11 mastermind, Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

Naivete that can only be present in one who has never worn the uniform, who has never served in the combat arms, who has never put his life on the line for his country is the only thing that can explain this insane decision.

Along with trial in our civilian courts come all the accompanying protections of our bill of rights.  Miranda, rules of evidence, and every other technicality used to protect criminals from punishment for their crimes will now be at the disposal of lawyers for terrorists captured on a foreign battlefield by the US military.

Every pencil pushing bureaucrat who argued in favor of this insanity should be issued boots and a rifle and dropped into a hot LZ along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border tomorrow!  Then let’s see how many of them favor assigning our constitutional protections to the bloodthirsty lunatics they’ll meet there.

But Americans are rapidly regaining consciousness and recognizing their error in voting for this naive and inexperienced President.  While Obama’s approval numbers have often remained under 50% in Rasmussen’s poll of likely voters, today marks the first day a majority disapprove in the Gallup poll of all American adults.

Maybe a few Democrats will begin to wake up and realize our only Hope is to stop the Change!

Contact your Senators tomorrow and tell them to vote no on Cloture for Reid’s health care bill!

Growing Movement Strikes at Fed Across the Country

The End the Fed group (a movement of citizens concerned with the country’s fiscal policies) will gather in over 39 cities nationwide at each Federal Reserve location demanding that Congress pass H.R. 1207 – the Federal Reserve Transparency Act – with no amendments and then pass, after the completion of the audit, H.R. 833 – Repeal the Federal Reserve Act. Nationwide rallies are planned for this Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Federal Reserve Banks across the nation.

The point of the rallies according to Little Rock, AR organizer, Rob Richard, is “to inform the public that it is a fact that the Federal Reserve System is a government-protected cartel of private banking corporations which lend money, at interest, to the Federal government. It is often represented by the media and Federal Reserve officials as a Government Agency. It is not, outside of a few committees with public and private sector members. The Federal Reserve System, through its inflation of the money supply and the distortion of free markets resulting from its intervention, is responsible for the severity of the current financial and economic crisis. The current round of “bailouts” by the federal government and the Federal Reserve System, of large segments of the financial sector further inflates the US dollar and disrupts the proper functioning of the markets and will ultimately serve to plunge the nation into an even more severe crisis. This crisis could include a serious depression, something worse than the Stagflation of the 1970’s, or, at worst, a hyperinflation and collapse of our currency.”

“The goal of the End the Fed group is to educate Americans so that they can one day have a sound, honest monetary and banking system in this country and not be held to the whims of a private banking cartel with a government granted monopoly that is often misconstrued as being a government entity.”

Sunday’s rallies are part of a massive nationwide awareness activities to raise support and co-sponsors for H.R.1207 – the Federal Reserve Transparency Act and the eventual end of central banking in the United States.

Obama’s Health Care Plan Not Out of the Woods Yet

by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann at Townhall.com

Joseph Stubbs, President of the American College of Physicians — the second largest doctors’ group in the country — confirms that “the supply of doctors just won’t be there” for the 30 million new patients Barack Obama wants to cover. Noting that the doctor shortage is “already a catastrophic crisis,” Stubbs said that underserved areas in the U.S. currently need almost 17,000 new primary care physicians even before Obama’s proposals are enacted.

In the meantime, according to Bloomberg News, a 2009 survey by Merritt Hawkins and Associates, a recruiting and research firm in Irving, Texas, found that “the average waiting time to see a family-medicine doctor in Boston … is 63 days, the most among the 15 cities” surveyed. By comparison, in Miami, it was only seven days.

The study noted that Boston’s longer wait was “driven in part by the health-care reform initiative” passed in 2006 in Massachusetts upon which the Obama program is modeled. Bloomberg reported that “as many as half of doctors in the state have closed their practices to new patients, forcing many of the newly insured to turn to emergency rooms for care.”

Alan Goroll, a professor at Harvard Medical School said that “the primary lesson of health-care reform in Massachusetts is that you can’t increase the number of insured unless you have a strong primary-care base in place to receive them. Without that foundation … Massachusetts has ended up with higher costs and people going to emergency rooms when they can’t find a doctor.”

And, a study by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, part of the federal government’s Health and Human Services Department, found that expanding insurance coverage to an estimated 32 million people who now lack it would create a demand for medical services that “could be difficult to meet initially … and could lead to price-increases, cost-shifting, and-or changes in providers’ willingness to treat patients with low-reimbursement health coverage.”

By the Numbers, Job Losses Since the Start of the Democratic Majority

Hat Tip: ARRA News Service

With the failure of the Democratic approach to economic “stimulus” becoming ever more apparent, it’s time to look at the current recession from a different angle. This chart shows that unemployment actually began its steep ascent soon after Democrats took control of the House and Senate in 2006!

Five Terrible Cruelties of Liberalism

by John Hawkins at Townhall.com

You will find that I am kind. Unlike the cruel Leonidas, who demanded that you stand…I require only that you kneel.” — King Xerxes, 300

Liberalism is an extraordinarily deceptive, ruinous and cruel ideology. That’s because liberalism comes, arms wide open, whispering sweet words of compassion and pity, even as it forcefully slams down a boot upon the neck of people it’s “helping.” It’s bad enough to see people’s lives ruined by those who make no pretense about their intentions, but to see human beings destroyed by those who claim to have only their best interests at heart…well, let’s just say it’s a hell of a thing.

What liberalism does to minorities: Liberalism falsely convinces minorities in America that they are widely hated and despised for their skin color. How terrible it must be to spend your days seeing racial slights that don’t exist, feeling despised by people who don’t give you a second thought, and expecting that you will be treated unfairly by people, most of whom think no more of your skin color than they do the color of the carpet they’re standing on.

Believing these lies leads to a sense of victimhood that liberalism offers to “fix” with more destructive solutions like Affirmative Action. How many white Americans have doubted the achievement of a black American because of Affirmative Action? How many black Americans have doubted their own worthiness because they thought they may have been given a helping hand because of their race? How many black college students who would have graduated with honors at UNC-Chapel Hill flunked out of Harvard because Affirmative Action got them into a college that was over their head? In the wildest dreams of the Ku Klux Klan, they could have never come up with an ideology as deviously destructive to minorities in America as liberalism.

Health Care and the Moral Imperative

by Joseph C. Phillips at Townhall.com

I am always troubled by those in government claiming they have a moral imperative to enact this or that policy. A little digging often reveals that their motives are more self serving than moral. I am doubly troubled when those raising the moral banner tend to reject the very idea of an objective morality applicable to all men at all times.

Such is the case with liberal Democrats and their insistence that the moral laws of the universe – laws that have been with us since God breathed life into man (or as some would have it when we rose from the primordial soup) – command Government to supply every citizen (and many that aren’t) with health insurance.

But as is generally the case all we need do is scratch the surface and the truth reveals itself.

As reported in the Wall Street Journal, John Cassidy of the New Yorker lets the cat out of the bag when he writes on The New Yorker website that we must be clear about what the reform amounts to. “The U.S. government is making a costly and open-ended commitment,” Cassidy writes. “The Obama Administration . . . is creating a new entitlement program, which, once established, will be virtually impossible to rescind.” And why are they doing it? Again the WSJ quotes Cassidy: Because “ObamaCare serves the twin goals of making the United States a more equitable country” and furthering the Democrats’ “political calculus.” In other words, the purpose is to further redistribute income by putting health care further under government control, and in the process making the middle class more dependent on government. As the party of government, Democrats will benefit over the long run.”

That might explain why this massive 2000 page bill uses the command “shall”- business “shall” do this, you “shall” do that — 3,345 times; creates 111 new government boards, commissions and bureaucracies all overseen by a healthcare czar and subjects every aspect of healthcare to government regulation; all this at a whopping cost to taxpayers of $1.5 trillion over 10 years, which will be paid for through a host of new taxes, penalties and fees. In spite of rumors to the contrary; there is no free lunch.

Obama revives talk of U.N. gun control

by Drew Zahn at WorldNetDaily

Gun rights supporters are up in arms over a pair of moves the White House made last month to reverse longstanding U.S. policy and begin negotiating a gun control treaty with the United Nations.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton first announced on Oct. 14 that the U.S. had changed its stance and would support negotiations of an Arms Trade Treaty to regulate international gun trafficking, a measure the Bush administration and, notably, former Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations John Bolton opposed for years. Two weeks ago, in another reversal of policy, the U.S. joined a nearly unanimous 153-1 U.N. vote to adopt a resolution setting out a timetable on the proposed Arms Trade Treaty, including a U.N. conference to produce a final accord in 2012.

“Conventional arms transfers are a crucial national security concern for the United States, and we have always supported effective action to control the international transfer of arms,” Clinton said in a statement. “The United States is prepared to work hard for a strong international standard in this area.”

Gun rights advocates, however, are calling the reversal both a dangerous submission of America’s Constitution to international governance and an attempt by the Obama administration to sneak into effect private gun control laws it couldn’t pass through Congress.

Obama Will Spend More on Welfare in the Next Year Than Bush Spent on Entire Iraq War, Study Reveals

(by Fred Lucas, CNSNews.com) – As a candidate for president, Barack Obama decried the financial toll that the Iraq war was taking on the economy, but Obama’s proposed spending on welfare through 2010 will eclipse Bush’s war spending by more than $260 billion.

“Because of the Bush-McCain policies, our debt has ballooned,” then-Sen. Barack Obama told a Charleston, W.V., crowd in March 2008. “This is creating problems in our fragile economy. And that kind of debt also places an unfair burden on our children and grandchildren, who will have to repay it.”

During the entire administration of George W. Bush, the Iraq war cost a total of $622 billion, according to the Congressional Research Service.

President Obama’s welfare spending will reach $888 billion in a single fiscal year–2010–more than the Bush administration spent on war in Iraq from the first “shock and awe” attack in 2003 until Bush left office in January.

Obama’s spending proposals call for the largest increases in welfare benefits in U.S. history, according to a report by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. This will lead to a spending total of $10.3 trillion over the next decade on various welfare programs. These include cash payments, food, housing, Medicaid and various social services for low-income Americans and those at 200 percent of the poverty level, or $44,000 for a family of four. Among that total, $7.5 trillion will be federal money and $2.8 trillion will be federally mandated state expenditures.

In that same West Virginia speech last year, Obama said, “When Iraq is costing each household about $100 a month, you’re paying a price for this war.”

The Heritage study says, “Applying that same standard to means-tested welfare spending reveals that welfare will cost each household $560 per month in 2009 and $638 per month in 2010.”
