Washington Takes Break From Porn Surfing to Bailout Wall Street
by Ann Coulter at Human Events
Democrats have decided that in order to prevent Wall Street from starting more financial meltdowns, wrecking the economy and leaving the American taxpayer holding the bag, we need to give more oversight authority to the same government employees who were busy surfing Internet porn as private investors frantically tried to warn them about Bernie Madoff.
The Democrats’ financial “reform” bill also includes a $50 billion bailout fund — that’s million with a “B” — that will save the Democrats from the unpleasant task of having to go on record voting for another Wall Street bailout.
Under the Democrats’ bill, the FDIC will distribute the bailout money to Wall Street bankers without Congress having to take any action at all. (In the House version, the slush fund for the Democrats’ Wall Street friends is $150 billion.)
True, the billions of dollars will be doled out to banks for the purpose of “dissolving” them. So what? They’ll come back under a new name. But the guilty parties will lose no money for making bad bets — although if the bets paid off, they’d take all the profits. That’s what Democrats mean by “accountability.”
Not surprisingly, the only politicians opposed to a permanent bailout fund for bankers are the politicians not owned by Wall Street — that is, most Republicans, and one socialist, Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Two Arkansas US Senate Candidates Roll Out Special Campaign Vehicles
Bill Smith, ARRA News Editor: Two Arkansas Republicans running for the US Senate have rolled out their special campaign vehicles with messages addressing the liberal agenda. The two are Jim Holt and Gilbert Baker. Messages on Holt ambulance is taking shots at incumbent Democrat Sen. Blanche Lincoln. Baker bus messages are taking shots at fellow Republican candidate Rep. John Boozman as well as at Sen.Lincoln.
Both Holt and Baker have good polling numbers against Blanche Lincoln but may split in their efforts to make it to the primary run-off because U.S. Rep John Boozman and five other Republican candidates are also running in the Republican primary. Maybe these vehicles at campaign stops will help their message. Democrats are already endorsing Holt’s ambulance by attacking it – kind of cool! Wonder if any of the other Republicans will roll out specialized vehicles in their races. Hint to a couple of the other Republicans: consider a Military Jeep or Tank; Tractor; Delivery Truck. Enjoy the following pictures:
Holt introduced the 2004 Ford F450 former emergency ambulance that several Holt supporters and volunteers have modified to read “ObamaCare Repeal Unit” in bold print on the face along with phrases like “Stop The Barackracy” and “The Cure for Obama’s Hope & Change.” In addition, America’s Ambulance touts a caricature of President Obama with a Soviet hammer & sickle insignia affixed to his lapel while the other side displays a cartoon sketch of Sen. Lincoln posing alongside Sen. Harry Reid & Rep. Nancy Pelosi next to the words “Revive America: Vote Jim Holt for U.S. Senate.”
Hold said, “The current administration is cramming their liberal agenda down the throats of the people in much the same way – with no thought for the American public. When you attack the leader of the most Socialist minded progressive agenda our nation has ever seen, it is bound to cause quite a stir.
“We are speaking out and representing Americans who have not had a voice in Washington that represents them. With recent attacks on freedom and liberty, citizens need a leader – someone who will fight to defend their Constitutional rights.” Holt reiterated, “The illustration in America’s Ambulance harnesses the momentum we need to drive us through to victory in November. Then we will head for the ER – Economic Recovery.”
Baker is using a bus for his three-day “No Bailouts Bus Tour,” stopping in Conway, Little Rock, Cabot, Searcy, Heber Springs, Mountain View, and Marshall. The tour highlights Baker’s opposition to big government bailouts and his support for fiscal responsibility in Washington D.C. “It’s time to say ‘no’ to big government bailouts,” Baker said. “My opponent, Congressman John Boozman, voted for the TARP bank bailout, and people I’ve talked with today agree that someone who’s been part of the DC problem can’t fix the DC problem. I would not have voted for the bank bailout and I call on Congressman Boozman to join me in pledging to vote against any government bailouts in the future.

Any Arkansas Republican Can Beat Dems in November
by John Allison III, editor
Today, Rasmussen released their latest numbers in the race for Arkansas’ US Senate seat. And though the well known polling company doesn’t include every GOP candidate in the crowded primary field, the picture looks grim for Democrats hoping to hold onto Blanche Lincoln’s seat.
And the most interesting thing about the numbers is that it looks like it doesn’t matter who the Republicans run. Of the five GOP candidates included in the Rasmussen poll, all have a 20+ point lead on the incumbent Democrat. Of course, Lincoln must first get past a primary challenge by Democrat Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter. But Halter “runs only slightly stronger than” Lincoln in the Rasmussen poll.
It appears the race is the Republican Party’s to lose.
That means we can move beyond the question of most import in a typical election year. That question– “Who is most capable of beating the Democrat?”–doesn’t really matter if ANY GOP nominee can win.
The question now becomes, “Who (and what type of candidate) will be best for Arkansas and the country?”
Should we nominate an experienced politician, or an everyday Joe? Do we want a candidate who pays for his ads with Washington money, or with contributions from disillusioned voters across Arkansas? Will we nominate a candidate with a proven record of raising taxes, or voting for taxpayer funded bailouts? Or will we dare to be different and nominate a candidate who hasn’t been groomed to fit into the DC establishment?
I’ve been following the race since June of last year. That’s when I first heard we had a conservative candidate who would challenge Senator Lincoln in the general election. It was when President Obama and Democrats in the Legislative branch still had the wind at their backs, when they could seemingly pass any piece of Socialist legislation their Marxist hearts could dream up.
Most of the front runners in the race today were still lurking in the shadows then, ambivalent about stepping up to the plate. Though state Senator Gilbert Baker had been courted by the Republican establishment to run as early as March 2009, he waited to enter the race until September, after the raucous town hall meetings that greeted Democrat legislators when they returned to their districts in August of last year. Former Arkansas state Senator Jim Holt joined the crowded field in January and Boozman jumped in last in February of this year. Randy Alexander hasn’t held political office before, but waited until January to enter the race.
Until then, a mostly different crop of Republicans had announced their intent to take a shot at Senator Lincoln. Curtis Coleman, Fred Ramey, Buddy Rogers, Colonel Conrad Reynolds, Tom Cox, and state Senator Kim Hendren were all campaigning before the latecomers joined the fray. Rogers and Cox have since dropped out, but the rest are still battling for the nomination.
Baker, Boozman, and Hendren are all professional politicians while Holt served five years in the Arkansas legislature. Holt ran against Lincoln in 2004 and lost, but the political environment was far different than that in which we find ourselves today. But none of these professional pols chose to run against Mark Pryor in 2008, and other than Hendren, none chose to enter the 2010 race until it was clear Lincoln’s chances were slim. This leaves one wondering, “Would any of these three have entered this race if Lincoln had NOT been weakened by the TEA Party, the radical Obama agenda, and their inexperienced GOP opponents who stood up to the Senator before polls showed her vulnerable?”
Only Hendren and the others were willing to take the big leap, before Lincoln became hamstrung by the conservative awakening now known as the TEA Party movement. Coleman, Ramey, and Reynolds each bring a unique experience to the table.
Arkansas Republican Assembly (ARRA) President Patrick Briney pointed out some of the weaknesses and strengths of the candidates the other day. Briney’s analysis makes clear that political experience may not necessarily be a plus in the general election.
He explained that Baker and Boozman have supported tax increases in the past, and that Boozman’s vote for TARP likely won’t sit well with most conservatives in the state once it becomes well known. Briney even goes so far as to say a vote for Baker is “a vote for the party line not conservative principles.”
While he credits Holt for his “record of being uncompromisingly committed to conservative values,” he also considers it a liability that Holt has previously lost races to both Lincoln and Halter. Briney says Hendren also has a conservative record, but refuses to sign a pledge to vote against any new taxes.
Alexander has a long career as a housing director for universities, most recently for the University of Arkansas. He states on his website this is pretty much equivalent to running a business, and not like a “typical government job.”
Coleman is a central Arkansas businessman who has battled the regulatory minefield constructed by professional politicians. It consists of obstacle after obstacle that stands in the way of start up companies hoping to do business in the US.
Ramey hails from an eastern Arkansas farm family and now drives a truck for Federal Express. How long has it been since you’ve heard of a blue collar worker running for Senate on the Republican ticket?
Colonel Reynolds is a combat veteran. A 29-year career as an intelligence officer with a top secret security clearance means it’s unlikely he has skeletons in his closet that can be pulled out by Democrats in the general election. That same career indicates he’ll be attuned to the needs of our nation’s veterans and familiar with concerns of the international community.
At a 1st Congressional District GOP event in Walnut Ridge earlier this year, Reynolds told the audience “If you don’t want a professional politician this year, that eliminates half the candidates in this race.” Coleman once told me, “If TEA Party participants aren’t careful, their going to end up without a dog in this fight.” I’ve often heard Baker say he’s the man because he can raise the money to beat Blanche.
Though all the Republican candidates are professing strong conservative values as they traverse the state in search of votes, there are clear differences in their experience and background. But today’s poll numbers indicate whoever the GOP nominee is, he will likely be headed to Washington after November.
Barring a miracle, the winner of the May 18 Republican primary will be the next Arkansas Senator.
Therefore, Arkansas voters need to take this primary seriously and choose the BEST possible candidate to not only defeat the Democrat nominee, but the BEST possible candidate to stand up for Arkansas’ conservative values and work to uphold and defend the US Constitution.
May 18 IS the election that matters this year.
So please learn about the candidates, decide who you think will best represent Arkansas, vote in the GOP primary and choose the BEST man to be Arkansas’ next Senator.

Bipartisanship achieved in blocking of Dodd bill
by John Allison III, editor
There’s been so much clamoring for it since January 2009, and so little of it accomplished in that time.
But today, finally, after more than a year of partisan vote after partisan vote, Democrats can claim they have achieved bipartisanship since one of their own leaped the fence to join Republicans in voting against cloture on a bill by Senator Chris Dodd to place taxpayers on the hook permanently for bailing out poorly-run private companies.
Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska abandoned his party’s herd of Jackasses to join Republicans in voting against cloture on the bill. According to CBS News, “Nelson said he couldn’t support moving to debate on a bill he hasn’t seen.”
Which apparently means a lot of Democrats DID vote for a bill they haven’t yet seen!
Republicans have criticized a measure in the Dodd bill that will set aside $50 billion for a future bailout fund. Though the $50 billion would be collected from the financial firms covered by the clause, Republicans rightly point out those costs would be passed onto consumers and investors.
The demand for the fund also demonstrates Democrats’ commitment to the no-longer-novel idea of government agencies choosing winners and losers in the private marketplace. With the American public adamantly opposed to additional bailouts under any circumstances, Democrats aren’t willing to cede Uncle Sam’s newly found power to prop up failing firms.
But conservatives opposed to increased government interference with the operations of the free market shouldn’t view the vote as an outright victory. Instead of pointing out the role of Congress and government regulations in fueling the conflagration that defined the recent economic meltdown, GOP lawmakers are instead tweaking the regulations written by Dodd and his Democrat cohorts to invent their own designer set of handcuffs to restrain the industry.
“All of us want to deliver a reform that will tighten the screws on Wall Street,” says Mitch McConnell (R-KY), leader of the minority party in the US Senate.
McConnell and the Democrats made no mention of the mountains of regulations that already exist to prevent crises such as that we saw begin in late 2008. Nor did they mention the recent discovery that SEC regulators passed their workdays viewing porn on the government computers they should have been using to keep tabs on the financial giants that crashed.
Neither did they reference the role the quasi-government companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac played in nearly crippling the US economic system. The contributions FNE and FME to the crash of 2008 were made possible by none other than Demo-Socialist Congressman Barney Frank of Massachussetts.
Frank blocked every Republican effort to reel in the dangerous practices of the two mortgage giants earlier in this decade. The Massachusetts moron virtually forced the companies to guarantee loans to customers they knew couldn’t be counted on to repay.
The blame for the near collapse of our financial system lies as much (if not more) at the feet of our incompetent legislators and their bureaucrat underlings as it does at the hands of the CEO’s who steered their ships as they ran aground.
Democrats have scheduled hearings to highlight the recent fraud charges brought by the SEC against Goldman Sachs, but nobody mentioned documents the financial firm released that it claims repudiate the charges of fraud leveled by Democrats.
Neither did we hear anyone from either side pointing to the politics involved in launching the government’s fraud suit immediately before the unveiling of Dodd’s bill.
It seems inevitable that our fumbling, bumbling elected elite will pass a more burdensome regulatory scheme that will increase costs and reduce efficiency in the financial markets before November. And it will likely enjoy bipartisan support.
Not because it’s best for the country, but because leaders of both parties want more control and to claim credit for preventing some future crisis.

Well, well, well. Imagine that!
by John M. Allison III, editor
Suddenly, even the chief actuary for Medicare is reporting that Obamacare will…are you ready for this…INCREASE COSTS!
Of course, Richard S. Foster could probably have figured that out BEFORE the bill became law if he’d been given time. But in our pompous President’s haste to pass something…anything…real research and accurate reporting on the bill’s cost were secondary concerns to slapping his signature on a piece of parchment he could proclaim would “reform” health care!
After months of wrangling in meetings behind closed doors that excluded Republican legislators from participating in the crafting of the monstrous mound of paper an ink that will change the lives of virtually every American, and the deaths of many, Democrats finally agreed to break long-standing rules in both the Senate and the House so their members could pass the bill without being held accountable to their constituents.
The plan proved the Jackass Party would go to any lengths, to the lowest lows, break any tradition in order to set the US health care system up for an eventual government takeover. Because that’s what it would take to get the bill passed over the opposition of the strong majority of American voters who opposed the President’s plan.
Obama and his Socialist sycophants on Capitol Hill knew full well opposition would only grow if a complete and accurate study of the bill was conducted prior to the vote. So the jackasses in control in Washington made certain there wasn’t time for such a study.
But now, a month after our Socialist-in-Chief signed the bill into law and proclaimed the bill would “bring down health care costs for families and businesses and governments,” we get the truth.
The President and his pals raised our taxes so we will enjoy INCREASED HEALTH CARE COSTS!
That’s right. Now that Foster has had ample time to examine the Demo-Socialist plot to seize control of ANOTHER American industry, he reports that health care costs will increase by $311 billion. That’s $311 billion more than we would have paid if Congress had NOT placed us on a practically irreversible course to Socialism!
Remember, President Obama said health care costs would fall, and the bill would SAVE us money?
But, hey, at least everyone will be covered. Right?
WRONG!
Foster finds there will still be 23 MILLION without health care coverage in the US.
Even after spending another TRILLION DOLLARS for the luxury of paying MORE for our health care, after turning over life and death decisions to government bureaucrats, and after committing to an almost certain DECLINE in quality of care, there will still be 23 million uninsured in the US.
Are you angry yet?
Because we’re not through.
Foster also points out that Jackass Party promises of extending the viability of Medicare are based on assumptions that are highly unlikely. He states that Medicare cuts called for in the bill will make some hospitals and nursing homes unprofitable and that will result in a lack of access for Medicare recipients.
Rather than assume the Demo-Socialists will permit people to die when they’re turned out from unprofitable hospitals, Foster believes it’s more likely the pandering politicians will reverse the call for said cuts.
There goes the supposed deficit-neutral promise by Barack and his buddies on the Left in DC.
Basically, Foster’s report verifies what we conservatives have been stating since the House released its first version of Obamacare last summer.
Unless we repeal this law, we’re going to be paying more for less–in quantity and quality.
Be sure to write the White House and thank Chairman Barack.

Liberals & Conservatives: A few differences
by John Allison III, editor
I received this in an email today. It was meant to be humorous, but the veracity of the statements below should be obvious to anyone.
- If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
- If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat..
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
- If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
- If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
- If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
- If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
- If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
Which of these best identifies you?
I’m proud to call myself a conservative!

Lying left can’t hide from the truth…
by John Allison III, editor
…even with the mainstream media as a willing accomplice in their attempt to mislead the American people.
The Democrat party has long claimed to represent the “common man” while painting conservatives as being “in-the-pockets” of big business, or Wall Street. Liberals and their Jackass party claim to stand for constitutional freedoms. You know, like freedom of the press and free speech. All the while, they claim conservatives constrict the rights guaranteed by our founding documents. And the loony left loves to paint conservatives as rabid, violent, hatemongers filled with rage and always looking for an opportunity to gang up on a smaller, weaker opponent.
Partnering with the mainstream press, liberal Democrats have often been able to convince large blocks of voters to believe all of these things. But recent events are illuminating the absolute hypocrisy of these self-proclaimed peace-loving protectors of American freedom for the little guy. The lack of mainstream media coverage of these happenings shines an even brighter light on the obvious bias of the “4th branch” of government.
Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) recently introduced a bill to reform America’s entire financial system. He and his Democrat colleagues have often blamed the entire financial crisis on a lack of regulation spawned by big business’ ties with President Bush and other Republicans. Goldman Sachs took billions in bailout bucks from the American taxpayer in 2008. You know…one of those firms that was just too big to fail. But it wasn’t Republicans who benefited from the generous political donations of Goldman’s people. It was President Obama who received nearly $1 million as the company crumbled.
You might expect that to make the news. Something along the lines of “Obama Coffers Filled by Bailed Out Financial Giant.” But don’t hold your breath. Lachlan Markay at Newsbusters points out that Time and Newsweek were quick to tie President Bush to the failed energy company Enron when it failed. Bush’s ~$150,000 in contributions paled in comparison to Obama’s Goldman take. Obama hauled in nearly 7 times as much from Goldman as Bush took from Enron.
Liberals screamed as if their fingernails were being pulled out when they learned the Bush administration was (gasp!) listening in on phone calls between overseas terrorists and their contacts in the US. They acted as if the former President had dropped the US Constitution in the shredder when he set up a prison camp for captured terrorists on a remote base in Cuba.
But Democrats and conservatives usually agree the 1st Amendment protections guaranteed in the Bill of Rights are essential and must be preserved. At least, that’s what they all say.
So when the TEA Party started gaining momentum, and Democrat politicians began labeling us un-American, we conservatives were somewhat taken aback. But even Obama’s own backers were upset this week when, not once but twice, the President appeared upset by gay rights activists protesting his failure to drop the US military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy.
Obama challenged the hecklers who want the policy changed immediately. Apparently quite perturbed by their protest, the President yelled, “Barbara and I are supportive of repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. So I don’t know why you’re hollering!” Only a few days later, gay rights activists dressed in military uniforms chained themselves to the fence in front of the White House to draw attention to the President’s unkept promise to end the policy. When reporters approached to interview the protesters and cover the story, they were forced to retreat by police officers.
So it appears the President and his liberal supporters only value the constitutional rights of those who agree with their positions 100% of the time. Obama seems to believe those who disagree should keep their mouths shut and have no real right to voice their opinion. Even the mainstream press, arguably his biggest ally in the 2008 campaign and these first 15 months of his tenure, loses their freedom to cover a story that might stain the President’s image with his supporters.
And of course you’ll recall the demogoguery of the TEA Party protesters in Washington by Democrat congressmen the day the Socialist sheep in jackass clothing voted to drive the final nail in the coffin of the world’s greatest health care system. Charges of racism and homophobia were leveled by these elected officials based on their “claims” that protesters hurled racial and anti-gay epithets at black congressmen and Barney Frank.
The mainstream media, always a stalwart ally of the liberal left, ran with the story on the word of these Socialist snakes without a shred of evidence. What the Democrat allies in the press didn’t tell the world was that Andrew Breitbart of BigGovernment.com offered $100,000 to anyone with video evidence to back up the claims of the congressmen. None materialized. In a literal sea of protesters packing video cameras, and the congressmen recording the entire event on their own phones and cameras, not even a few seconds of a lone protester were produced to exchange for $100K.
This leads me to believe the entire act was scripted and staged by these ruling Democrats for no other reason than to delegitamize the movement that drew such a large and vociferous crowd to oppose the crowned jewel of the Obama platform. Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat underlings rarely, if ever, enter the Capitol via the front steps. They pranced through the disgruntled crowd hoping to incite them to violence. And when that didn’t work, they just lied about it.
The entire debacle was nothing more than a Democrat attempt to undermine the 1st Amendment rights of the opponents of the health care takeover. Pelosi and her pals hoped to instill the fear of being labeled a racist and/or homophobe in the hearts of concerned conservative American citizens for no other reason than to intimidate them into not participating in the rallies.
Now for perhaps the most egregious hypocritical hype from the loons on the left recently.
The Obama administration and other liberal Democrats have been trying to paint conservatives who oppose the President’s march to a Socialist America as violent and dangerous. They’ve tried hard to link them to militia groups planning to overthrow the US government. But the only violence at TEA Parties thus far has been perpetrated by liberal counter protesters.
In St. Louis, SEIU thugs beat down a black TEA Party protester. Last month, more SEIU thugs tried to misdirect conservatives headed for the kickoff of the Tea Party Express III tour in Harry Reid’s hometown of Searchlight, NV. When Breitbart stopped, thinking he had arrived at the TPX rally, he found himself amid a throng of SEIU goons who threatened him with violence when he attempted to question them.
Most recently, when the Southern Republican Leadership Conference gathered in New Orleans, the most violent of these liberal attacks occurred. Republican Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s top fundraiser, Allee Bautsch and her boyfriend were savagely attacked when they left an event at Brennan’s Restaurant in New Orleans. Bautsch’s leg was broken in four places and her boyfriend suffered a concussion.
Liberal protesters who apparently didn’t believe conservatives have a right to hold conferences in New Orleans had gathered outside the restaurant as the fundraiser went on. It’s been reported that conservatives (and even some patrons of the restaurant who weren’t with the party) suffered verbal attacks much worse than those the Democrats accused conservatives of as they left the restaurant. And now it’s come to light that what set the attackers off were “Palin pins” worn by Bautsch and her boyfriend.
A young woman and her boyfriend viciously attacked for their support of a conservative icon while Democrats consistently claim conservatives are prone to violence? You’d think everyone in the US would have heard of it by now. But no, the Democrat allies in the mainstream media won’t tell this story.
Contrary to what you see in the MSM, big business is pumping piles of cash into the pockets of liberal Democrats to buy influence and favors. Those seeking to restrict constitutional freedomes wear the brand of the jackass. And the blood on the streets is spilled by the hands of left wing liberals.

Will GOP leaders snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
by John Allison III, editor
It certainly seems like that’s the plan lately.
President Barack Hussein Obama, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have bulled through any and all obstacles on their path to destroy our country’s Constitution since the President took office last year. They first ignored, then insulted, and finally impugned the everyday Americans who arose to resist their planned Socialist takeover of the United States of America.
The Obama-Pelosi-Reid path of destruction through the core values and principles of American society laid the groundwork for what increasingly seemed a certain midterm victory for conservatives in general, but Republicans specifically.

But lately the Republican National Committee and its blundering chairman, Michael Steele, seem intent on remaining the minority party inside the beltway.
One of the most important missions of the RNC is fundraising. It takes money to fund tough races, conventions, and other events designed to get Republican candidates elected. But the missteps of Steele and the RNC have jeopardized that primary mission. Last month, in spite of the fact that Democrats forced an unwanted Socialized medical system down the throats of the American people, the Democratic National Convention raised more money than did the RNC.
Problems at the RNC run deep, and aren’t being addressed. The conservative ideals espoused on the official website seem almost as foreign to leaders of the committee as they do to ultra liberal filmmaker Michael Moore.
That’s why conservative icon Michelle Malkin promotes and routinely publishes her Rejected RNC Solicitation series. I can’t tell you how many RNC solicitation letters I’ve thrown in the trash, or how many times I’ve told RNC fundraisers on the telephone that I’ll donate again once I’ve seen proof they stand up for my conservative values.
But when the RNC sends donors’ hardearned cash to Democrats with an R beside their name, like they did with Dede Scozzafava last year in NY, it turns the stomachs of real conservatives. She proved us right and gave the RNC a huge black eye when she dropped out and endorsed her Democrat opponent in the race for New York’s 23rd congressional district.
Now it looks like a similar situation may be developing in Florida where NRSC endorsed liberal Republican Governor Charlie Crist is considering running for US Senate as an independent. Crist started early last year as the far-and-away favorite. The NRSC and Florida’s RNC National Committeeman endorsed him over conservative candidate Marco Rubio for the 2010 Senate race. But nearly a year later (and a lot closer to the primary), Rubio enjoys a 20+ point lead on the RINO Crist and the Governor is contemplating leaving the party to run as an independent.
If backing liberal candidates who call themselves Republicans isn’t bad enough, we recently heard Steele whine that too much is expected of him and President Obama because they’re black. Then the little “outing” to a lesbian bondage strip club sponsored by unknowing RNC donors to the tune of $2000!
But there’s still more. We just recently learned that Steele funneled GOP donor cash to liberal, outspoken, race-baiter Al Sharpton’s National Action Network! That’s the same Al Sharpton recently appointed to be our black President’s liason to the black community. The same Al Sharpton who recently labeled elements of the TEA Party racists.
It’s little wonder that conservatives don’t want to loosen their pursestrings to support Steele and the RNC when this is the representation they’d be buying.
But Steele’s gaffes do much worse than damage the fundraising efforts of the organization. They leave conservatives feeling the Republican party isn’t going to represent them any better than the liberal Democrats. They leave that passionate, energized, mobilized group that makes up the TEA Party feeling as if they have no place to turn for real representation.
The RNC is counting on TEA Party voters to carry them to a sweeping victory in November. But if Steele and his pals aren’t careful, they’re going to convince many to stay home.
