Teacher wins major victory for God in school

Judge scolds district for trying to scrub America’s Christian heritage

by Drew Zahn at World Net Daily

A federal judge in California has handed down a scathing ruling against a school that required one of its teachers to remove signs celebrating the role of God in American history from his classroom walls.

As WND reported, math teacher Bradley Johnson had banners hanging in his classroom at Westview High School in San Diego, Calif., for more than 17 years with phrases like “In God We Trust” and “All Men Are Created Equal, They Are Endowed by Their Creator,” only to have the principal order them torn down during the 2007 school year.

But Johnson filed a lawsuit alleging the order a violation of his constitutional rights, and the teacher has now been rewarded with a court victory and a powerfully-worded ruling.

“May a school district censor a high school teacher’s expression because it refers to Judeo-Christian views, while allowing other teachers to express views on a number of controversial subjects, including religion and anti-religion?” posited U.S. District Court Judge Roger T. Benitez in his judgment. “On undisputed evidence, this court holds that it may not.”

He continued, “That God places prominently in our nation’s history does not create an Establishment Clause violation requiring curettage and disinfectant for Johnson’s public high school classroom walls. It is a matter of historical fact that our institutions and government actors have in past and present times given place to a supreme God.”

The judge further reprimanded the school, stating that while teachers at the district “encourage students to celebrate diversity and value thinking for one’s self, [they] apparently fear their students are incapable of dealing with diverse viewpoints that include God’s place in American history and culture.”

Government, Yes! God and Parents, No!

by Dennis Prager at Townhall.com

One of the major differences between the right and the left concerns the question of authority: To whom do we owe obedience and who is the ultimate moral authority?

For the right, the primary moral authority is God (or, for secular conservatives, Judeo-Christian values), followed by parents. Of course, government must also play a role, but it is ultimately accountable to God and it should do nothing to undermine parental authority.

For the left, the state and its government are the supreme authorities, while parental and divine authority are seen as impediments to state authority.

Let’s begin with God.

From Karl Marx — “man is God;” “religion is the opiate of the people” — to today’s left in America and elsewhere, God and God-based religion, specifically Judaism and Christianity (Islam, too, but in the West, Islam has played little role) have been the primary obstacles to leftist victory.

Why Adultery is Political Suicide

by Steve Chapman on Townhall.com

By now, it’s clear that Mark Sanford has about as much of a future in politics as he does in sumo wrestling. His confession of adultery was all it took to demolish any hopes he had of running for president — and perhaps even to force him to step down as governor of South Carolina. But why?

After all, we’ve had presidents who are revered by posterity despite being unreliable husbands. Hardly anyone even remembers now that Franklin Roosevelt had a mistress, that Dwight Eisenhower may have had one, or that John Kennedy had several.

In the intervening decades, we’ve also become far more aware of just how common such behavior is among officeholders — not only Gary Hart, Bill Clinton and Rudy Giuliani but lesser-known mayors, governors, congressmen and water commissioners. Nowadays, finding that a politician breached his marital vows is about as surprising as learning that a professional athlete failed a drug test. If Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi can overcome their guilt, why not Sanford?

Here we go again: GOP committing suicide

Just when Conservatives were gaining ground (see here, here, and here), two Republicans who were among the most respected in our community have been caught with their pants down…literally.  What in the Hell is wrong with these idiots?

Last week, Sen. Ensign (R-NV) admitted having an affair with a member of his campaign staff.  This is the same Senator who called for the resignation of Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) when he was caught soliciting gay sex in the restroom of an airport and President Clinton after his infidelity in the White House came to light.  Ensign referred to Craig as a “disgrace” and said Clinton “has no credibility left.”  Now his escapades have exposed him as a hypocrite and the Conservative philosophy will pay the price.

And if the Ensign affair didn’t do enough damage, today another rising star in the Republican party crashed to the ground after disappearing for four days and reappearing to reveal his own philandering.  South Carolina Gov. Mark Stanford, who made national headlines when he attempted to refuse federal dollars from the Obama “stimulus” package bound for his state, publicly admitted that he too has been unfaithful to his wife.  And again, the Conservative cause suffers a staggering blow.

Both Ensign and Sanford have resigned their party leadership positions, but neither has offered to resign from their elected office.  More ammunition for the left-wing press and blogosphere to dismantle what had been growing support for Conservative ideology and to bolster support of Democrats’ Socialist agenda.  And that’s the worst part of these revelations.

These two have not only inflicted terrible pain on their families, but also on present and future generations of Americans.  Their infidelity undermines what was the American people’s growing trust in the GOP and a Conservative approach to governing our country.  Their selfish actions will not only injure their families, but mine and yours as well.  Our children will suffer because many voters who recently switched to supporting our philosophy and those who would have soon switched will likely return to the party that panders to and embraces morally bankrupt philanderers.  And every day they remain in office, every statement they release, and every appearance they make will remind voters of their betrayal.  That betrayal won’t simply be attributed to these two hypocrites, but will also be assigned to the GOP.

These two lying, cheating bastards have just counterracted months of effort many of us have expended in an effort to rebuild the Republican party since the November election.  As bad as I hate the thought of President Obama having filibuster-proof control of the Senate, I hate the thought of a low-life hypocritical scumbag like Ensign remaining in place representing the GOP even more.  Virginia and North Carolina turned blue last November, and Sanford’s refusal to resign in South Carolina may be enough to turn that state blue as well.

So I just want to give a big, facetious Thank You to these two worthless bastards.  And to any other Republican politicians who profess to stand for family values while screwing around on their spouse…take your lying, cheating, worthless asses over to the party that encourages broken promises, broken marriages, and broken lives now! That’s where you belong.

You can read Sanford’s emails between the lying, cheating philanderer and his mistress here.
