Democrats Charge Ahead…Against the Constitution and Our Will!

by John Allison III, Editor

Last year, President Barack Hussein Obama demanded Congress get Obamacare to his desk by the August Recess…then the Thanksgiving Recess…then the Christmas Recess. Didn’t happen. Why?

Because the American people didn’t want it.

And now he’s set another deadline…the Easter Recess. And again, the American people don’t want his government takeover of our health care system.

But Congressional Democrats don’t care what the people think, they are charging ahead. Earlier this week Pelosi basically told us we just have to trust her to know what’s best for us. “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it,” she told the American people. She plans to do just that this weekend.

She and her Democrat allies have even devised a plan to trash the constitutional provision demanding a House vote on the Senate bill using the “Slaughter Solution.” This latest trick was designed by House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) to help vulnerable Democrats avoid a direct vote that will very likely end their political careers.

If adopted, the rule will allow Democrats to “deem” the Senate bill passed without the up-or-down vote President Obama has called for recently. This blatantly disregards the constitution’s (which I’m now doubting any of these Democrats have ever read) Article I requirements for a vote on legislation.

Article I, Section 5

Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.

So the constitution requires, if 1/5 of those present request it, that Yeas and Nays on any question be recorded!

I’m just about 100% sure we can get at least 20 Senators and 87 Representatives to request a vote be taken and the results recorded.

But these Democrat tyrants have no regard for the constitution! And no regard for the majority of Americans who oppose their tyranny! If they can disregard this clause, they can pick the entire document to pieces. An article here, a clause there, a section here, an amendment there…until our founding document has been completely shredded. Our rights, enumerated by our forefathers over 200 years ago, like so much confetti.

Rise up America! Use the links at the right to call, write, and email you Congressman and Senators today. Otherwise, this may be the last week our Constitution is worth the paper it’s written on!

Crawford outlines his plan for border security

from Blogs for Borders

On Monday, Arkansas GOP Congressional candidate Rick Crawford outlined his 3-phase plan for US border security. Crawford is a Northeast Arkansas small businessman and a veteran of the US Army, not a Washington politician or bureaucrat. Our professional politicians and bureaucrats for years have refused to make the hard decisions required to secure our southern borders.

Crawford calls the porous southern border our “most exploited border” and a “national security threat.” His 3-phase plan includes,

  • Phase 1:Build a wall.
    • “Not hang a piece of corrugated tin, not a virtual wall for aesthetics” says Crawford, but a defensible wall with 8-10 lawful points of entry.
  • Phase 2:Document the undocumented.
    • Allow a six to nine month period to allow any undocumented worker or illegal immigrant to return to one of the secure points of entry and register. At this point they’ll be “on the grid,” said Crawford. “They don’t get a driver’s license, they don’t get a benefit card,” he continued.
  • Phase 3:Active enforcement.
    • Following phase 2, there will be a determined effort to find those who have not registered. It will be assumed at this point that any undocumented alien is in the country for illicit purposes and law enforcement will be empowered to “take appropriate action.”

Perhaps electing real people who are accustomed to making hard decisions in the real world is the first step needed to get a real solution to our illegal immigration problem.

1st District GOP Candidates to speak in Cabot, AR Monday

from the Tea Party of Lonoke County, AR

The Lonoke County Republican Committee has announced both GOP candidates for Arkansas’ 1st Congressional District will speak at the committee’s regular monthly meeting on Monday. Rick Crawford and Princella Smith will address the committee and take questions.

Though the Tea Party of Lonoke County is non-partisan, the course charted by the Democrats who now run our country makes this election cycle unique. The first vote new members make will be to elect the Speaker of the House. In 2010, sending any Democrat to Washington to represent the 1st District will be equivalent to voting for Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for Speaker.

We simply cannot afford another two years suffering under this left-wing zealot who has been a rubber stamp for every part of President Obama’s Socialist agenda.

For that reason, the 2010 Republican primary is crucial. Conservatives in Arkansas MUST participate in the May elections to decide the GOP nominee so we send the very best candidate to the general election in November. We need a GOP candidate who represents Arkansas’ conservative values and understands the concerns of Arkansas’ conservative majority.

We need as many as possible to attend these events to get to know the candidates. For years, we have allowed state GOP party loyalists and even the national infrastructure of the Republican party to choose the nominee who would oppose the Democrats who have failed to represent us in DC. In 2004, only 8484 of the 54000 who participated in the GOP Senate primary were 1st District voters.

We MUST motivate more 1st District voters to participate in the Republican primary this year if we hope to deliver a conservative candidate who will be palatable to a majority of those who vote in November. One way to do that is by getting to know these candidates. Meet them, speak with them, listen to them, and then choose who you think will best represent us in Washington. Then tell your friends. Spread the word. Let people know you’re excited about this candidate, or that one and tell them why!

If we can accomplish that mission, we can choose a conservative candidate who can win in November. It will be an historic accomplishment because the last time the 1st District was represented by a Republican was in 1875.

But we need an historic election to undo the historic damage to our country inflicted by the Obama administration.

Crawford entered the race and has been campaigning since last April, long before anyone suspected Marion Berry would choose not to run. In fact, many believe Crawford’s long-running campaign may have dealt the death blow to Berry’s chances to win re-election. The veteran from Jonesboro embraced the Tea Party early in his campaign and promises to support its platform of 1) Limited Government, 2) Fiscal Responsibility, and 3) Accountable Elected Officials. Before Smith announced she would challenge him in the GOP primary, Crawford committed to make himself available to Lonoke County voters at the upcoming Meet & Greet in Cabot later this week.

A Google search for any relationship between Princella Smith and the Tea Party movement turns up empty. In fact, it’s difficult to even find an article that mentions both her and the protest movement that swept the nation last year and turned the 2010 election cycle into a boiling cauldron for many Democrats across the country.

Smith touts her knowledge of “how things work” on Capitol Hill as one of her qualifications to represent Arkansas’ 1st District, but that may not play well with Tea Party activists who are generally disenchanted with Republicans and Democrats in Washington. On the issues, she and Crawford apparently agree with and support the planks in the national GOP platform.

Her youth may become an issue as well. Most of the four years since she graduated college have been spent in DC working with establishment Republicans like former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, and most recently with Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao (R-LA) who was the only GOP House member to vote for Obama’s government takeover of health care.

So both candidates espouse conservative ideals. But the most important thing in this election cycle will be to nominate candidates who can capitalize on the energy of the Tea Party movement, a person who will be a friend to the movement even after he or she has an office in DC.

Here’s the opportunity to meet your next Congressman Lonoke County!

One of these two will replace Marion Berry next year, if we get involved and work to choose the best one in May.

Corrupt Rangel Temporarily Steps Aside to Protect Pelosi

Congressman Charlie Rangel from New York today sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi requesting a temporary leave of absence from his chairmanship of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. But don’t go thinking this was for the good of the country or anything!

Rangel hopes the move will help his House Democrat allies in their bids for reelection this fall. At a press conference this morning, the embattled Congressman stated, “My chairmanship is bringing so much attention to the press, and in order to avoid my colleagues having to defend me during their elections, I have this morning sent a letter” asking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “to grant me a leave of absence until such time as the ethics committee completes its work.”

The Congressman of 40 years apparently fails to understand it’s not his chairmanship that attracts the negative attention, but the fact that he permitted a corporation that lobbies Congress to fund his jaunts to the Carribean in violation of House rules. And those trips are only the tip of the iceberg of violations that sparked a nearly 2 year long ethics investigation of the Democrat Congressman.

Six months ago, Rep. John Carter (R-TX) called for Rangel’s gavel after the Democrat admitted he failed to report over $1 million worth of assets on federal disclosure forms. Carter first isntroduced a privileged resolution calling for Rangel’s removal as chair in February of last year amid the investigation for multiple ethics and tax violations.

Speaker Pelosi refused to act on Carter’s calls for and continued to allow her Democrat colleague to hold his privileged position on a committee that essentially writes the tax code for the corrupt lawmakers’ constituents.

Now, in an effort to help Pelosi maintain her position as speaker and principal promoter of President Obama’s Socialist agenda in the House of Representatives, Rangel chooses to step aside…temporarily!

Tea Party Power to Solve the Debt Problem

by Larry Kudlow at Townhall.com

The New York Times ran a front-page story this week called “Party Gridlock in Washington Feeds New Fear of a Debt Crisis.” As usual, they got it wrong. Instead, the headline should have read, “After Scott Brown’s Astonishing Senate Win in Massachusetts, New Political Gridlock in Washington Could Spell the End of the Liberal Crack-Up We Have Witnessed over the Past Year.”

In fact, gridlock in Washington is good, since it will stop the assault of big government until the end of the year when Congress could be overturned by independents, tea partiers, Republicans, and probably some Democrats as well. Just take a look at the high spirits at the CPAC convention, where tea partiers are reinvigorating conservatives and Republicans.

So let’s take this momentum forward by using it to drain any remaining power from the extravagant spending-and-borrowing assault in Democratic Washington. And let’s especially use this tea-party power to stop Democratic plans for another round of broad-based tax increases.

Take, for example, Obama’s new deficit commission. It’s a bad idea. This commission is a fig leaf to cover up President Obama’s out-of-control budget. It’s a Trojan horse for tax hikes, especially a VAT that would engulf the middle class with up to a 15 percent tax rate on the sale of goods and services. Obama is getting ready to move his lips on the pledge not to raise middle-class taxes. Congressional Republicans must not let him do this.

Here’s the real problem: The Obama budget would take federal spending as a fraction of the economy to 25 percent, roughly a $1 trillion additional spending increase in the out-years. Publicly held federal debt would climb about $18.5 trillion by 2020, more than double what Mr. Obama inherited, rising to almost 80 percent of the economy.

Rather than tax hikes, I say stop the spending. Outside of defense and entitlements, why not roll back the discretionary budget to 2008?

Why is the mainstream media ignoring Rick Crawford?

Arkansans joined the nationwide protest movement last year as conservative voters found their collective voice and stood against the Obamanation of our country. From Tea Parties to Health Care Town Halls, these voters calls for responsibility and accountability from their elected officials went largely unheeded. But several candidates for office were paying attention, even when our Representatives and Senators weren’t.

Rick Crawford, GOP candidate for Arkansas’ 1st Congressional district seat in the US House of Representatives was one of these. He’s well known and recognized by 1st district voters who are actively involved in their local Republican Committees or Tea Parties. He’s been working to spread his message since last spring, not only at protests, but local festivals and events across the 1st District.

Crawford appears to have a real shot at becoming the first Republican to represent the 1st Congressional District since 1875. And his campaign is gaining momentum.

But if you were counting on the mainstream media to inform you of Rick’s candidacy, you may not yet know he exists. That’s because television stations and newspapers, statewide and local to the 1st District, have largely ignored his campaign.

Traditional news sources across the state have failed to cover several major developments in what could be an historic campaign. In the past month, Crawford has received three major endorsements from influential Republicans in the state. Mike Huckabee, Ed Bethune, and Asa Hutchinson have thrown their support to this Jonesboro veteran with strong ties to the 1st District’s large agricultural community.

Even the television station from his hometown of Jonesboro doesn’t seem to think his candidacy deserves more than a casual mention every once in a while. Searching their site you’ll see one article devoted to Rick–the August 27, 2009 article on his official announcement that he was entering the race. Those search results do include two articles covering Rep. Marion Berry’s (D) announcement that he won’t seek reelection and Crawford is mentioned almost as an aside in these.

Search results of the archives of the Jonesboro Sun reveal a similar dearth of articles on Crawford’s campaign. The obligatory August announcement that he’s running, then a couple of mentions in articles about Berry. The Sun did mention Crawford in a late January article titled “1st District Race Far from Settled” in late January, but only toward the end and after a long list of potential Democrat contenders.

Arkansas’ statewide newspaper, The Arkansas Democrat Gazette, also mentions Crawford in several Berry articles, but nothing devoted entirely to Rick’s campaign. But the Democrat Gazette did consider it newsworthy that Princella Smith, a potential GOP challenger to Crawford, is thinking about throwing her hat in the ring following Berry’s announcement that he won’t run again.

Of the four major television stations in Little Rock, only KTHV 11 has an article on their website about Crawford. That’s an AP article from May of last year announcing Rick’s intent to challenge Berry.

Last May, on the influential conservative blog Redstate.com, Moe Lane speculated “We will no doubt see more [Crawford] campaign-related items as time goes on.” But we haven’t…at least not from traditional media sources.

Luckily, Crawford embraced new media and social networking sites early on. His Facebook page sports over 1300 fans now and almost 800 follow him on Twitter. Many of these supporters depend on the blog posts on his website to keep them informed since the mainstream media refuses to.

Several Facebook fans recently wondered about the lack of coverage by the mainstream media and one even speculated the media’s liberal bias is to blame.

Shelley asked, “Why is it that we aren’t seeing any articles on you in the papers? I keep waiting to see you mentioned and they talk about all the other candidates and you are never mentioned!”

Grace responded, “I agree, I never see anything about you in the papers. What is up with that?”

And Kelly replied, “I think the main reason that the papers around here are not picking up Rick is because they are controlled by a liberal bias. They are afraid to give Rick the time of day because he is the most creditable [sic] threat to eliminate Nancy Pelosi’s liberal agenda in Washington…”

Whatever the reason, it’s pretty obvious the mainstream media has chosen to ignore Rick Crawford.

But you can spread the word about his campaign by becoming a fan of his Facebook page, following him on Twitter, and passing along his updates to your 1st District friends and families.

Support for Health Care Plan Falls Back To Pre-Speech Levels

Last week President Obama delivered his lie-laden speech to Congress in an effort to regain ground lost in his campaign for a government takeover of our nation’s health care system. Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) correctly pointed out the President’s lie that Obamacare wouldn’t cover illegal aliens, but was attacked by Democrats and the MSM for speaking the truth.

The speech and the coordinated Democrat/media attack on Congressman Wilson seemed to have its intended effects for the first few days. But now things are falling back into place as the American people once again refuse to be deceived by the Democratic demagoguery of conservative Republicans who point out the truth about Obama’s bid to hand control of life and death decisions over to government bureaucrats.

From RasmussenReports.com

Following President Obama’s speech to Congress last week, support for his health care reform plan increased steadily to a peak of 51% yesterday. However, the bounce appears to be over. The latest daily tracking shows that support has fallen all the way back to pre-speech levels.

Forty-five percent (45%) of all voters nationwide now favor the plan while 52% are opposed. A week ago, 44% supported the proposal and 53% were opposed. (see day-by-day numbers).

The latest figures show that 23% Strongly Favor the plan and 41% are Strongly Opposed.

The President can lie all he wants now. It appears the American people aren’t buying his bull anymore!

A House of Hypocrisy

by Representative John Carter (R-TX)

( WASHINGTON , DC ) – The 111th Congress could go down in American history as the “House of Hypocrisy” after Democrats today followed months of ignoring potentially criminal tax evasion by U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-NY), while scheduling an immediate vote against Republican Congressman Joe Wilson for an inappropriate verbal outburst during last week’s Joint Session of Congress.

“We are witnessing perhaps the most blatant display of moral and legal hypocrisy in the history of this body,” says House Republican Conference Secretary John R. Carter of Texas . “Speaker Pelosi and President Obama have allowed Democrats at the highest levels of the federal government to violate the tax laws of the United States with impunity, blocked all attempts by this body to hold them accountable, and have made a mockery of our system of justice and the Rule of Law. Yet they find it important to hold a vote against a Republican for two words blurted out during a speech by the President, for which he has already apologized. We are witnessing truly malignant partisanship of historic proportion.” Carter has joined other Members of the House in support of Wilson ’s apology being adequate to address any breach in House rules for his comment.

Carter introduced a privileged resolution earlier this year calling for removal of Rangel as Chairman of House Ways and Means, the House committee that oversees the IRS, while Rangel remained under investigation for tax violations, among other ethics charges. The resolution was blocked from consideration or debate on a party line vote by Democrats, in spite of the removal being supported by the editorial boards of the New York Times, Washington Post, and numerous other major daily newspapers historically favorable to Democrats.

Carter also introduced the Rangel Rule legislation that would provide the same waiver of penalties and interest on back taxes for all Americans as that enjoyed by Rangel. That measure has also been blocked by House Democrats.

“It is becoming increasingly apparent that the only way this House will restore the Rule of Law is for the American people to overthrow it,” says Carter. “It is time for a revolution at the polls in November 2010.”

They can’t handle the truth

by Sandy Rios at Townhall.com

While Congressman Joe Wilson from South Carolina gets harangued by his colleagues (Republican and Democrat alike) for yelling “That’s a lie!” During President Obama’s 38th healthcare speech, much of America is cheering him on—or are at least sympathetic to the legislator and the frustration that led to his outburst.

In that same spirit of profound indignation, thousands have been showing up at tea parties and town halls across the nation, creating their own passionate slogans and making impassioned speeches to legislators who “can’t handle the truth” because they’re saturated in a culture that has made obfuscation of truth routine behavior.

For years the Senate has sworn in judicial candidates with an oath to tell the truth while—all too frequently—proceeding themselves to smear the candidate with distortions and outright lies.

While the “gentleman from Vermont” or the late Senator from Massachusetts made sport of slander and smear, the “gentlemen” on the other side of the aisle are too polite to use such terms as “liar” so that the lies stand and reputations are destroyed and Senators strut and take their pay and prestige and violate their trust with the people they have been elected to represent. But decorum is maintained.

The same thing applies in the House. Congressmen cheat on their taxes, steal taxpayer money to spend on themselves and constituents who will in turn re-elect them, and no one cries out “Liar!” “Cheat!” or “Scoundrel!” as the charade of deceit continues.
