Even the blind can see through this

The disgraced Democratic Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, has now set the dates for a special election to replace President-elect Barack Hussein Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in the US House of Representatives.  A primary election will be held on 3 March 2009 and the general election will follow on 7 April.

What was that we heard from Illinois Democrats about a special election to fill Obama’s Senate seat being too expensive?  The cost would be greatly reduced if held in conjunction with this one–and they knew that at the time.

Even a blind person should see through the spin the Democrats put out on this one now.  There is absolutely no doubt Illinois Democrats feared the good people from the state which gave us “Honest Abe” would be so disgusted with Democratic corruption that they would have replaced BO with a Republican.

Lincoln must be turning over in his grave about now.

Update:  Obama calls again for Blago resignation, says Senate can’t accept appointment

Well, President-elect Barack Hussein Obama’s old friend, old buddy, old pal Democratic Governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich is certainly doing his best to disrupt what was looking to be a smooooth transition to the new administration.

Caught this month with his hand in the cookie jar on the FBI wiretaps swearing like a sailor and seeking to line his pockets soliciting prospects for the President-elect’s vacated Senate seat, today he’s crowing about his duty and responsibility to the people of Illinois in a press conference to appoint another old friend, old buddy, old pal, former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris.

Too bad for him he wasn’t thinking about his duties and responsibilities when the FBI had his phones tapped.  Of course he claims he did nothing wrong as his attorney is seeking to have the evidence collected in the surveillance thrown out on a technicality.  Blago insists a political lynch mob is trying to force him from his job and he’ll fight them “until I take my last breath.”

This lynch mob he references includes the President-elect, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and virtually every other politician who’s made a statement on Blago’s predicament.  Obama has called on the Democratic governor to resign.  Reid says the Senate won’t seat any appointee of Blagojevich.  But the corrupt Democratic governor charged forward in defiance of them and so many others.

Blago stated in his news conference that this could have been appointed had the Illinois legislature called for a special election to fill the seat earlier this month.  But, the Democratic controlled legislature feared the Democratic governor’s criminal activity might have so angered the good people of the Land of Lincoln they would vote for a Republican to fill the seat of Blago’s old buddy, old friend, old pal Obama.

State law requires Blago to set a date for a special election to fill Rahm Emanuel’s vacated House seat.  Why not vote to fill Obama’s seat at the same time?  Rhetorical question.  We all know the answer.  God forbid an honest Republican might be afforded the opportunity to represent the state of Illinois in the Senate!

Maybe, just maybe…if Reid stands tall (which is a big if) and refuses to seat Burris, the Democrats in the Illinois state legislature will decide to do the right thing and give the good people who hail from the home state of Honest Abe the right to fill Obama’s Senate seat in an honest and upfront manner by calling for a special election.

Not-so-transparent transition

Well, Obama’s transition team finally released The Report!

You know, the one where the Obama transition team clears the Obama transition team of any wrongdoing in the Democratic Governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich’s solicitation of personal favors in exchange for Obama’s vacated Senate seat.

The report can be summed up in one simple sentence:  We find we did nothing wrong.

How convenient!

The problem is, the report indicates the investigation wasn’t as thorough as we would expect from the “the most open and transparent transition in history.”  In fact, there are some glaring inconsistencies.

First, there’s no explanation of David Axelrod’s statements prior to the arrest of Democratic Governor Blagojevich’s arrest that Obama had spoken to the Governor numerous times about the appointment of his successor in the Senate.  Video of the interview has been removed from YouTube “due to a copyright claim by FoxNews,” but here’s an excerpt from this article:

However, David Axelrod, Mr Obama’s senior advisor, told Fox News on November 23 that the President-elect had spoken to Mr Blagojevic about the choice of his successor in the Senate. “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them,” Mr Axelrod said at the time.

Despite the fact Axelrod’s original statement was unequivocal, we are expected to believe his later statement that he was mistaken.  Sorry, I don’t.

The report does disclose that Rahm Emanuel “did have contacts of the type covered” by the investigation.  In other words, Emanuel spoke to Democratic Governor Blagojevich about Obama’s successor in the US Senate.  But, on page 2 of the 5 page report, we see the investigation wasn’t even thorough enough to determine exactly how many such conversations he had.

“Mr. Emanuel had one or two telephone calls with Governor Blagojevich.”

In the very next paragraph, the following quote clearly indicates there were more than one conversation between Emanuel and Blagojevich.

“In those early conversations with the Governor, Mr. Emanuel recommended Valarie Jarrett because he knew she was interested in the seat.”

With today’s technology, it would seem quite a simple task for a real investigation to uncover exactly how many such calls were made.  But, the most transparent transition in history seems pretty opaque where this is concerned.

The investigation finds that Valerie Jarrett had no contact with the Democratic Governor’s office and that she knew nothing of his desire to personally profit from the appointment of Obama’s successor.  However, the report does state that Ms. Jarrett had contact with Tom Balanoff, the head of the Illinois chapter of the Service Employees International Union.  You know, the union that was knee-deep in Blagojevich’s scheme.  The report notes that Ms. Jarrett was informed by Mr. Balanoff that the Democratic Governor was interested in a Cabinet position in Obama’s administration.  But of course, the report concludes that Ms. Jarrett had no idea this was part of anything inappropriate.

Well, thanks Mr. President-elect!  That really clears things up.

An incomplete investigation that obfuscates the facts certainly makes us truly thankful that we are now blessed with the “most transparent transition in history.”

A testimonial for the individual right to bear arms

Here’s a woman who understands why the 2nd Amendment was included in the bill of rights!   Notice Chuck Shumer seems unmoved by her story in the video.

Tell everyone you know who doesn’t believe we should have the right to defend ourselves to watch this video.  If they still don’t understand, there’s no hope for them.

We’re facing perhaps the most anti-2nd amendment administration in the history of our country starting 1/20/09, we need to be prepared to fight tooth and nail to protect our right to defend our lives, families, and property.

Obama aide talked with governor; no deal discussed…

…according to the Obama transition team.

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – An internal review prepared for Barack Obama found his incoming chief of staff had multiple conversations with the Illinois governor’s office, but said the talks did not involve any deal concerning whom the governor would appoint to replace Obama in the Senate.

The report was released Tuesday as a transition official disclosed that Obama and two of his top aides, Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett, have been interviewed in connection with the federal investigation into Gov. Rod Blagojevich. The transition official, speaking on a condition of anonymity before the report’s public release, also confirmed that Emanuel had been captured on wiretaps taken as part of the investigation.
