Can They Make Obamacare Worse? Yes They Can!

from The Foundry (The Heritage Foundation blog)

Flacking for President Barack Obama’s “new” health care plan, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters assembled for yesterday’s press briefing: “The president posted ideas of his on the White House website today. We hope Republicans will post their ideas either on their website, or we’d be happy to post them on ours, so that the American people could come to one location and find out the parameters of what will largely be discussed on Thursday.” And this might have been a small bit of successful Obama administration gamesmanship on health care and transparency in government except for one small problem: reality. Not only do House Republicans already have their own health care plan, not only is it already available online, but the White House’s own website already links to it!

Democrats’ 9/11 plan: Blast ‘right-wing’ terror

from World Net Daily

Suggested campaign paints Obama critics as enemies

By Bob Unruh
© 2009 WorldNetDaily

The Democrats, whose presidential administration previously condemned as “potential terrorists” those who oppose same-sex marriage and are offended by restrictions on firearms, all based on Internet chatter, has suggested blasting those who oppose their health care plan as “right-wing domestic terrorists” on 9/11 of this year.

According to an “Organizing for America” campaign document unveiled by the Heritage Foundation, the plan involves having activists telephone their state’s senators” on Sept. 11 to demand a “public option” which essentially would involve a government-funded and government-run monopoly on health care.

Bobby Eberle, posting on a Republican Party site called The Loft, said Obama “and his team have no limits on what they will do or say in order to inject socialist views into the minds of Americans.

“They also have absolutely no respect or appreciation for the American way and the sacrifices Americans have made in order to stay free and to promote the American way of life across the globe. Just take the latest effort being pitched at BarackObama.com. Rather than remembering the Americans who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Obama’s political team wants you to make phone calls on 9/11 to fight back against ‘Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists,'” Eberle documented.

The Heritage Foundation reported on the plan, which later was taken down from the Internet, and preserved the image of the proposal on its website.

Take a Good Look…

…at what President Obama has done to the national debt.

And it doesn’t matter how many times he repeats the lie that his Obamacare will not add to the deficit, it will unless he breaks another promise not to raise taxes on the middle class. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has already pointed out it will. And the scary thing is that so many are still on board with this plan that promises rationed care, government control, the death of the private insurance companies, taxpayer funded abortions, a new Health Care Czar with as yet to be determined powers over our very lives, and new direct government access to our bank accounts. Even 40% supporting such a plan is too much and it means we’ve got to work much harder to convince the last holdouts.

Here’s the link to the Heritage Foundation article where I found this chart.

Demint (R-SC) Slams Obamacare, Pledges to Read the Bill

Senator Demint takes Obama to task on his rush to take over yet another segment of the US economy.  The Senator lays out the multitude of legislative attempts put forth by Republicans in Congress over the years that were all killed by Democrats who desire nothing less than complete government control over the life and death decisions now made between you and your doctor.

You might expect that Demint has signed a pledge to read the Obamacare bill before voting for it, but you might not know he’s only one of 72 who will make that committment.  Of those 72 who pledge to read the bill, guess how many are Democrats.

If you guessed zero, you’re right.  No Democrat has signed the pledge.

The House version of the bill is 1,018 pages and the CBO’s latest estimate says it will add another $269 billion to the federal deficit.  But still the Democrats won’t even promise to read the bill.

Call your Senators and Representatives today and demand they sign the pledge!

Oh, and here’s yet another example of the failures of a government-run health care system! A 22-year-old alcoholic is refused a liver transplant because his life’s not worth saving!

$1 TRILLION for Democrats’ Criminalization of America’s Health Care

ARRA News Service: Yesterday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other House democrats rolled out their health care plan called “America’s Affordable Health Choices.” Part of their plan would force employers to offer workers health coverage or face severe fines. Also it would forcw individuals to participate in a health insurance plan or face penalties that would generally vary with their income level. Maybe it should have been called “Criminalizing of America’s Health Care” or the “Destroy Individual Choices in Health Care.”

The Heritage Foundation is reporting the cost of the bill at $1.3 Trillion. The bill is 1,018 pages and comes to $1.264 billion per page. It even includes universal abortion coverage at taxpayer expense. The Congressional Budget Office, not a conservative “right minded” think-tank, reported that the health care reform plan proposed by House Democrats on Tuesday will add more than $1 trillion ($1,042 billion) to the national federal budget deficit over 10 years (2010–2019) . And, this is only their preliminary estimate of the damage.

The CBO report states that its cost estimates are not comprehensive. They are only preliminary as administrative and other costs are not yet projected. Heritage advises, “But even this analysis understates the true costs of the bill. The CBO only scores bills on a ten-year time frame, and House Democrats have designed their bill to obscure the catastrophic long-term fiscal path on which it places our country.”

Heritage identifies that according to the CBO, the cost for the first four years is just $84 billion, but then it accelerates sharply. By 2019, the new entitlement is set to cost American taxpayers $254 billion. So while many Americans may look at the $1.3 trillion price tag over ten years and conclude the plan will cost $130 billion a year, in reality it will cost nearly double that. By backloading all the spending, the House is hiding the true cost of their plan from the American people. Between 2018 and 2019, federal costs for the new entitlement and the enlargement of Medicaid would increase by a combined 8.9%.

Last week CNS News reported that Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) introduced legislation calling for a $540-billion tax hike to pay for the health plan that President Barack Obama insists will be “deficit neutral.” This tax is a new surtax on households earning $350,000 and above. It starts at 1%, bumping up to 1.5% at $500,000 in income and to 5.4% at $1 million. Since many small business owners fall within this income range, this surtax will also be a huge job killer.

The Washington Post writes: [T]here is no case to be made for the House Democratic majority’s proposal to fund health-care legislation through an ad hoc income tax surcharge for top-earning households. …There is simply no way to close the gap by taxing a handful of high earners. … Pretending that “the rich” alone can fund government, let alone the kind of activist government that the president and Congress envision, is bad policy any way you look at it.

Summary: President Obama, Democrats in Congress, powerful special interests and influential lobbyists are hard at work in Washington, D.C. trying to drastically change our current health care system. They are seeking to replace it with a “nationalized health care ” system where the politicians and government officials will dictate the kind of medical services you and your family receive and the rules under which you access care and coverage.
