King of the Blacks

No, it’s not Barack Obama…at least in this article by columnist Joseph C. Phillips.  But this is a black columnist pointing out what he sees as the biggest obstacle to achievement in the black community.  Using his own son’s experience as an example, his poignant essay asks “How is it that…the ‘king of the Blacks’ is the kid that flunked 8th grade?”

by Joseph C. Phillips at Townhall.com

My wife and I have big dreams for our children. We want nothing for them but health, happiness and success and we recognize that a good education can be a step towards realizing that goal. We also demand that our children perform up to their potential. The skills one learns in school – study habits, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines – are essential for success in the work world. In this we are like every other parent in America.

However we are also Black parents of a certain generation and so the subtleties of race continue to speak to us and they are very real. Sometimes we are not sure if we are responding atavistically to the faint smell of something in the air or if what we are hearing are the soft echoes of our own imaginations. It’s sometimes impossible to tell, which is why race and issues associated with race (to coin a phrase from the late Ralph Wiley) continue to make Black People want to shout.

Last week I had what my parents generation used to call a “come to Jesus meeting” with my 7th grade son. His mid-term report card arrived in the mail. His mother and I were under-whelmed.

The comments on my son’s report card indicated that he is under the mistaken impression that school is for socializing and his grades reflect a rather lackluster effort at best. I went “old school:” after a brief lecture he received some tactile encouragement to start taking care of TCB.

There are many black students at my sons’ middle school, but he is 1 of only 3 in the highly-gifted magnet program within the school. The HGM is a program restricted to students that score 99.9% on an intellectual assessment test. One of three! That doesn’t leave much wiggle room to be the black kid that can’t cut it, that clowns in class or that falls behind.

Open Letter to White Liberals From a Black American

by Lloyd Marcus at NewsBlaze.com

Dear White Liberal America,

Thank you very, very much. You see us poor helpless inferior blacks, oh forgive me, I must be politically correct, “African Americans”, and you want to help us using your superior intellect. After all, we could not possibly succeed in this racist, homophobic and greedy country without your assistance.

I first met you guys in the 70s when I attended the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art on a scholarship. A black kid from the ghetto, I found myself amongst white kids from well to do families. I worked a part-time job to cover my books and art supplies. You guys did not have to work.

And yet, I remember many conversations about how you would never bring a child into this “freaking world” and how “freaking screwed up” this “freaking country is”. You told me how “freaking selfish” your “freaking parents” were and how they only cared about “freaking money”. Then, you drove off in your convertible given to you by your “freaking parents” as I stood at the bus stop.

Union Thugs Beat Black Conservative at MO Town Hall

UPDATE–Carnahan staffer arrested at St Louis town hall
UPDATE–St. Louis Tea Party plans to protest union violence

Union thugs wearing SEIU t-shirts beat black conservative activist at St. Louis town hall meeting

From #TCOT Report

Eyewitness account of union thugs beating black conservative activist

August 6, 2009
St. Louis, Missouri

I am a friend of Kenneth Gladney, who was attacked this evening at the Russ Carnahan town hall meeting. I was at the town hall meeting as well. I witnessed the entire melee. Kenneth was approached by a SEIU representative as Kenneth was handing out “Don’t Tread on Me” flags to other conservatives. The SEIU representative demanded to know why a black man was handing out the “Don’t Tread on Me” flags. The SEIU member then used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him. Kenneth was also brutally attacked by two other men who are SEIU members and an unidentified woman. The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing t-shirts with the SEIU logo.

They punched Kenneth in the face and kicked him in the back and his head numerous times. Mr. Gladney was beaten badly. One assailant fled on foot. Three others were arrested. Kenneth is currently at St. John’s Mercy Hospital being treated for his many injuries. Mr. Gladney was merely expressing his freedom of speech by handing out flags. He in no way provoked anything, as evidenced by the fact that three people were arrested. We hope that Ken recovers from these injuries, however he is in great pain at this time. I am Mr. Gladney’s friend and attorney. We will be pursuing legal action at our disposal. This was a truly senseless hate crime carried out by racist union thugs.

Mr. Gladney is a tea party supporter and conservative activist, although he subscribes to no particular political party. We are calling on the SEIU, Representative Carnhan, and President Obama to condemn the racist actions of these thugs. In the days to come, we will be investigating who these thugs actually work for and how strong their alliances to other various left-wing organizations may be.

We hope the St. Louis Tea Party and Tea Party organizations around the country will protest the SEIU offices in every major city across America to expose the These strongarm actions must stop.

Regards,
David B. Brown

Remember, these thugs represent the organization that virtually resides in the White House and advise President Obama on nearly every form of policy. Free speech under attack, freedom of assembly met with brutal attacks by left-wing thugs, the President calling on his left-wing allies to turn in those with whom he disagrees. Is this the change America voted for?

Carter: Poor Hezbollah Has No Anti-Aircraft Weapons

(#TCOT)

Read former President Jimmy Carter’s own account of his recent trip to Paris, Lebanon, and Syria and see if you don’t agree.  Of course, this is just another page in a long history of Carter’s demonization of Israel and defense of terrorist organizations.

Carter heaped praise on Lebanese, Syrian, and even Hezbollah officials and uses the report to create a portrait of these three groups working to achieve peace.  At the same time, he never misses an opportunity to give the reader the impression that Israel is the only thing standing in the way of a peaceful Middle East.

Contrast the following two quotes taken directly from Carter’s report:

Hezbollah refrained from meeting with us but expressed approval of our election monitoring. The big issue was that Syria and Lebanon were moving toward mutual diplomatic recognition and exchange of ambassadors after decades of Syria’s assumption that there was no boundary between the two.

and

Israelis are also occupying the northern (Lebanese) 2/3 of a small village named Garjaa. The general showed us a graph of the many flights of Israeli planes over all parts of Lebanon, averaging about a dozen each day. Neither Hezbollah nor the Lebanese Armed Forces have any anti-aircraft weapons for defense.

No mention of past Syrian attempts to assasinate Lebanese political leaders. No mention of Syrian assistance to Iran in supplying Hezbollah terrorists with the weapons to practice their trade. Reading Carter’s words leads one to believe the conflicts between Lebanon and Syria amount to little more than two schoolboys arguing over a cheap toy.

Carter also fails to mention Hezbollah’s offensive attacks against Israel that led to the 2006 war and resulted in the current Israeli military operations along the border.  To lament the fact these terrorist dogs lack anti-aircraft weapons is unexpected, even from someone as anti-Israeli as Carter.  But there it is, in his own words.  Carter is saddened by the fact that Hezbollah terrorists can’t shoot down Israeli planes!

Carter evidently doesn’t remember when Israel pulled out of Lebanon, after 20 years of occupation, that Hezbollah swooped in and filled the vacuum.  The same Hezbollah that was controlled and assisted by Iran and Syria and the same Hezbollah that lauched the attacks that started the 2006 war.

Then after all of this ridiculous nonsense Carter has spewed, he closes with a paragraph that intentionally paints the terrorist organization Hamas as a harmless group of professionals.  Yes, Hamas.  Here, read the quote that makes my stomach turn and destroys any previous illusion I held that Carter was a good man who simply had some mistaken views…

In the afternoon Bob, Hrair, and I met with Khaled Mashaal and his fellow Hamas politburo members, all of whom are scientists, medical doctors, or engineers – none trained in religion.

Is it not unbelievable that a man in Carter’s position would intentionally mislead the world into thinking that Hamas is not an organization run by and consisting of radical Islamic terrorists?

In the past I thought of Carter as a good man with many opinions that I simply disagreed with.  After reading these words, his own words, I am now convinced that he is an evil man, an anti-Semite whose vision of the world is skewed by the glasses of racism and bigotry–against Jews.
