How Will Importing Dangerous Terrorists Make America Safer?
Today the Obama Administration is announcing it plans to import the terrorists held at the Guantanamo Bay prison – some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world – to the Thomson Correctional Center located outside Chicago, Illinois. This decision puts the interests of liberal special interest groups before the safety and security of the American people. Here’s how I addressed this issue at a press conference on Capitol Hill this morning:
The American people don’t want dangerous terrorists imported on to U.S. soil, and time after time the House and Senate have reaffirmed this position with bipartisan votes rejecting the Administration’s plan. Yet this Administration is defying the will of the American people and importing them anyway. What’s worse, this decision is completely unnecessary considering that these terrorists were already being tried by military commissions, which were specifically designed under the law to prosecute such heinous acts.
Republicans have offered a better solution. In May, we introduced the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act (H.R. 2294) to (1) affirm Congress’ opposition to transferring or releasing terrorists held at the Guantanamo Bay prison into the United States; (2) prohibit the Administration from transferring or releasing any terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay to any state without express approval from the state’s governor and legislature; and (3) prohibit the President from transferring or releasing a terrorist detainee into the United States unless he provides notification and certification to Congress. Our proposal reflects the will of the American people, and it puts a premium on their safety and security first and foremost.
In their rush to bring Guantanamo Bay terrorists on to U.S. soil, Washington Democrats have repeatedly failed to articulate an overarching strategy to confront and defeat the terrorist threat. At the very least, the American people deserve to know how importing these dangerous terrorists and giving them the same rights as U.S. citizens will make us any safer. I have yet to see a good explanation, but Republicans will stand with Illinois families and seek every remedy at our disposal to stop this dangerous plan.
Excuse me Mr. President. It was an act of terror!
Update–US knew Ft Hood Terrorist Tried to Contact Al-Qaeda
That’s right! Even though the Apologist-In-Chief, the Great Empathizer with Radical Islam, the Socialist Leader of the United States doesn’t want to call the latest slaughter of Americans on US soil by a Muslim Jihadist a terror attack, anyone who opens their eyes can now see this was exactly that!
Even the former Democrat Senator Joe Liebermann (I-CT) is now calling the murderous rampage by the American-born Muslim radical, Nidal Hasan, a terror attack. But not our illustrious Nationalizer of Private Industry! No. His Justice Department immediately concluded that terrorism was NOT involved, before a single FBI agent arrived at the scene! The first statement from the Great Orator Reader of Teleprompters to the American public he believes is foolish enough to believe anything he says was “Don’t jump to conclusions!”
Now how on Earth could our Omnipotent Oracle and his underlings divine that terror wasn’t involved when the attack was minutes old? When they couldn’t have received much more information than the name of the shooter and a rough sketch of how the carnage was carried out?
Simple. The Prophet of Partakers of Entitlement Programs didn’t want it to be terrorism.
That might interfere with his most pressing priority, to force Americans to enjoy the services of a new government-run health care system. It also might impede his planned heart-to-heart talk with the President of Persia, the Virulent Victor of last summer’s elections in Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It might cause Americans to question our Dithering Dear Leader’s indecisiveness on General McChrystal’s request for more troops in Afghanistan.
In short, a terror attack at this time would just be too inconvenient, so the Propagandist President Obama just decided to call it something else. Anything else. Or nothing at all. Just not terrorism.
But those pesky pests in the Out-of-the-Mainstream Press just kept digging, and the evidence shows the Administration’s assumptions may be off the mark. Comments to colleagues and internet postings paint a clear picture of a developing Jihadist in the months preceding the attack. Referring to the War on Terror as a “war on Islam” and berating the US with “anti-American rants” motivated his colleague Dr. Val Finnell to complain to superiors when the two worked together in 2007-2008. Now, Finnell says he’s not surprised at Hasan’s violence.
And leave it to our friends across the pond (because it’s certain our mainstream media wouldn’t cross the hand that feeds it) to get the scoop on Hasan’s ties to the September 11 hijackers. The Telegraph.co.uk has discovered Hasan attended mosque with two of the terrorists who killed almost 3,000 on American soil in 2001. Led at the time by a radical imam who now lives in Yemen and has been forbidden from preaching in the UK due to his ties to terrorism and support for terror attacks on British troops, the mosque and its influence on Hasan must be considered as possible motivation for, not just this attack, but his motivation for joining the US military in the first place.
Hasan only completed his studies at the Uniformed Services University Of The Health Sciences F. Edward Herbert School Of Medicine – Bethesda MD in 2003. His residency wasn’t completed until 2007. According to the USUHS website, its MD, PhD programs consist of three phases. The first phase or Graduate Program is generally completed in 3 years, 2 years of classes and the final year spent in research. The entire program takes 7-8 years to complete.
It’s been reported that his father died in 1998 and his mother in 2001, so he would have matriculated at USUHS just before, or right around, the time of his father’s death according to the time line for his med school program. Last week’s tragedy reeks of a terrorist act when all these facts are compiled. But it’s possible administration officials didn’t have all this information compiled immediately following the tragic events. But that still doesn’t excuse the knee-jerk denial of any possibility of links to terrorism by the monster Hasan.
And even though it’s possible White House officials’ statements were made without knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Hasan, the FBI should most certainly have had the information. Especially since Hasan had shown up as a blip on their radar screen months before. In the months following the Omnipotent One’s inauguration, Hasan seemed to become more open about his radical ideology. Internet posts defending suicide bombers, conversations with a young Muslim mentee, and a presentation given in his fellowship program depict a terrorist sympathizer at best, and a “ticking time bomb” at worst.
All of this evidence contradicts the stance taken by the Administration of the Great Admirer of Himself, that this was not a terrorist act. Still, in his weekly address to the nation, our President who continues to refuse to give our troops in the field the resources to protect themselves and perform their mission, “honored” those who fell at Ft. Hood, but never once did the words Terror, Terrorism, or Terrorist escape his lips.
Call it what you want Mr. President. A rose by any other name is still a rose, and a terrorist is a terrorist regardless of the label you give him.
Major Malik Nidal Hassan slaughtered 13 unsuspecting men and women who devoted their lives in the defense of this country, and wounded dozens more.
He’s a terrorist, plain and simple.
Go Figure, More Americans Dead at the Hands of A Muslim Radical
13 dead, and 28 wounded as of this moment. Yesterday, Muslim Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan went on a shooting rampage at Ft. Hood, TX and radical Islam struck another blow against our country and our way of life.
While President Obama “dithers” and our soldiers in Afghanistan continue to die, our enemies become more emboldened and convinced they can outlast us and eventually defeat us. His international apology tour earlier this spring, his patronizing address to the Muslim radicals who seek to destroy us, his shutting down the Gitmo detention center for our terrorist enemies, his seeking to prosecute CIA interrogators who obtained information that saved American lives, and now his refusal to give troops in the field the resources they need to protect themselves and complete their mission are all working to strengthen our enemies and weaken our ability to defend ourselves.
President Obama’s decision to prematurely withdraw from Iraq has had exactly the effect those who understand military strategy thought it would. Our terrorist enemies have shifted the bulk of their resources from the flat, open terrain along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers to the rugged, mountainous terrain of Afghanistan–a land that hasn’t been conquered since Alexander the Great stormed seized control of the territory around 330 BC.
In short, our inexperienced President has played right into the enemy’s hands.
And though Obama, his left-wing allies in Congress, and peaceniks everywhere hypothesized that our involvement in Iraq aided terrorists’ recruitment efforts, it’s his policies of shifting the battlefield from one that is more favorable to one that is less favorable to our men, machines, and tactics that has sparked the greatest increase in enemy attacks since before President Bush’s “surge” in Iraq. These perceived victories for our enemies are the real catalysts for the Taliban recruiting bonanza in Afghanistan.
But it’s also sure to serve as a motivating tool for disenchanted Islamists around the world to join their brothers and sisters to fight the infidel.
We saw this earlier this year when radical Muslim Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad murdered Pvt William Long and wounded Pvt Quinton Ezeagwula at a Little Rock, AR Army recruiting station. Two soldiers targeted by a radical, American born Muslim for serving their country…the US…the infidel. Now we see it again, to a higher degree, at Ft. Hood, TX. Another radical Islamist, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, murdered 13 and wounded 30 more.
For months before the Little Rock attack, the FBI had supposedly been tracking Muhammad because his activities had drawn suspicion of terrorist tendencies. But some have stated the FBI had been told to “back off” suspected Muslim terrorists in the US prior to the Little Rock attack. In the Ft. Hood case, we now know Hasan had drawn the attention of the FBI at least six months prior to his murderous rampage. One must wonder, just what restrictions have been placed on the professional investigators at the FBI that prevented them from being close enough to prevent this tragedy.
A man who served his country as an Army psychiatrist at Ft. Hood for the past six years. According to a Fox News article on the shooting, Hasan recently received a poor job review. Why would this man, who apparently performed his job satisfactorily the past six years, suddenly become disenchanted and frustrated to the point that he would take up arms, attack, and murder his comrades?
Was he motivated by a Commander-In-Chief who apologizes for every international action ever taken by the US, who praises Islam and snubs Christianity at every opportunity, whose military strategy comes from snobbish Ivy League scholars who’ve never carried a rifle, or operated a tank? As the Taliban continues to gain strength, and their victories receive more press, and the President continues to “dither” and leave deployed American forces in a sort of uncertain limbo, expect more and more radical Islamists to emboldened and compelled to lash out. Both here and abroad.
And as long as President Obama continues to provide aid and comfort to our enemy, through direct propaganda and appeasement, and through his elitist, idealistic approach to military strategy, each one of these deaths should be laid at his doorstep.
The blame is yours Mr. President.
BHO Encouraging Qaddafi Return to Terrorism
A quarter century ago, Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi served as the Osama Bin Laden of the time. Brazenly sponsoring acts of terror against the US and other Western countries, he was responsible for the deaths of many Americans. Ronald Reagan described him in these terms, “…Qaddafi was an unpredictable fanatic. He believed any act, no matter how vicious or cold-blooded, was justified to further his goals.”
Any head-of-state embracing the recently released convicted killer in the Pan Am flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland would have been offensive to those of us who remember the wave of terror attacks against the US that culminated in 9/11. But for Qaddafi, who sponsored the killings, to publicly embrace Abdel Baset al-Megrahi upon his release is even more disturbing, especially when one considers how the Libyan leader had been distancing himself from terror against the US for decades.
After Qaddafi sponsored the bombing of a Berlin night club in an attack targeting US servicemen, President Ronald Reagan ordered the bombing of military targets in Libya that included the leader’s compound. Though he didn’t renounce terrorism at that point, he was humbled to say the least. He retreated to the desert, living in a tent as a Bedouin after he realized how vulnerable he was to American military power.
Following the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the toppling of Saddam Hussein, Qaddafi almost immediately volunteered to give up his age old pursuit of nuclear weapons and renounce terrorism. Though the dictator hadn’t been a prominent director on the terrorism stage since Reagan nearly obliterated him, he had never given up his pursuit to make Libya a nuclear power. US willingness to stand up to those who threaten or attack us convinced him.
Though it was a long, slow process, Qaddafi was clearly retreating from sponsoring or embracing terror and had come a long way in the process of bringing his country to a respectable status. Then this. The embrace of a convicted terrorist on camera for all the world to see.
Talk about turning back time! How did this happen?
Just last year, then-Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice paid an historic visit to the north African country and announced the relationship between Libya and the US “has been moving in a good direction for a number of years now.” Now the dictator of 40 years honors the convicted killer of innocent women and children in an obvious show of respect for the murderer and his crime.
Weak-kneed liberals won’t understand how this happened, but bullies and dictators can only be controlled when they know there’s a real danger of their being defeated. Reagan’s flexing of American muscle sent Qaddafi to ground, hiding in his desert tent surrounded by his camels and goats. He popped his head up once in a while to rail against the US, but didn’t show it long for fear of having it shot off. Bush II made a believer of the Libyan leader when the US overthrew Hussein. For all of Qaddafi’s bluster, he always knew he didn’t stand a chance against us if we ever made up our minds to take him out. So he opted for self-preservation by turning from his evil ways that had made him our enemy for so long.
All of the respect built over the past three decades may now be fading fast as President Obama grovels at the feet of two-bit dictators around the third world, bows to foreign kings, and even denigrates our country abroad. Obama claims his foreign policy will result in better relationships with countries around the world. However, Qaddafi’s reversal and renewed support of a known terrorist lends credence to the hypothesis of the President’s critics–that demonstrating weakness will only embolden those who wish to do us harm.
After all, since Obama took office, Qaddafi has not only watched the US President wreak havoc on respect for America in the world, but he’s seen previously controlled tyrants slap the world’s most powerful country square in the face and get away with it. The Libyan dictator must have wondered why he’d acquiesced on the weapons of mass destruction issue when Kim Jong-Il’s nuclear tests and missile launches earned him nothing more than a slap on the wrist. And Qaddafi likely regretted turning his back on his terrorist allies when he watched Obama ignore those who stood and died in an effort to bring democracy and freedom to the world’s best known state sponsor of terror.
In short, he’s lost the respect for the US that previously encouraged him to give up his evil ways and tow the line that had begun to earn Libya a place among lawful nations.
Thanks to President Obama and his feeble foreign policy, we may once again suffer at the hand of a Libya that aids and abets those who seek to destroy us.
Pvt Long Memorial/Rally to Support Troops
At 4:00 pm Thursday, a crowd gathered at the scene of the first terror attack on US soil since 9/11 to pay tribute to Pvt. William Long and Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula. Long was slain on June 1st by an American citizen who called himself Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, but was born Carlos Bledsoe, a name he used before he became a radical Islamic terrorist.
Though the mainstream media and government officials largely downplayed or ignored this heinous attack, Secure Arkansas sought to bring it to the public’s attention by organizing a rally to support the troops and honor the men who so unexpectedly became the latest casualties of the War on Terror.
The rally began with Ms. Jeannie Burlsworth, founder of Secure Arkansas, leading the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. Ms. Cindra Bell then sang the Star Spangled Banner and Kime Eubanks offered a prayer for the murdered soldiers and their families, all American servicemen serving across the globe, and for our country’s safety in this time when our own soil is no longer a safe harbor from the hate-filled and violent radical Islamists who seek to destroy us. Speakers included the local Army Recruiting Commander, Capt Mathew Feehan, Rex Roark of the Governor’s Commission for Veterans’ Affairs, Jim Porter, past Post Commander of VFW Post 10483, and State Representative Ed Garner.
Several men and women stood at the street holding signs (see photos below) to encourage others to stop and participate in the vigil. Though I was standing in the parking lot and not close to the street, I couldn’t help but hear the screams of an angry woman taking issue with those of us present at the rally. When I turned and looked toward the disturbance, I noticed a woman stopping her car on busy Rodney Parham Rd. in heavy traffic next to every person holding a sign. She was leaning across the seat to shake her fist and scream something unintelligible from my distant vantage point. However, the woman parked her car and stationed herself among those sign-carriers promoting the rally, but holding a small sign which proclaimed “Islam is Peace.” She then began ranting about government involvement in 9/11, our “terrorist” actions in the war in Iraq, and that we were all brainwashed by the press which was complicit in some conspiracy with our government to wage war on Islam. When I asked the woman if Bledsoe committed this atrocity in the name of Islam, she refused to answer.
Those attending were then invited to proceed to American Legion Post #1, where David Hall had stationed himself with his Traveling Liberty Bell. All in attendance were asked to ring the bell in honor of Pvt. Long and donations were taken for the Wounded Warrior Project in Long’s name.
Special thanks to my daughter, Amanda, who attended the rally with me and served as my photographer and videographer. She took the video above and some of her photos follow.

Rally for Troops–Arkansas Pols Invited
President Obama’s silence on the senseless murder of 23-year-old Pvt William Long and shooting of Pvt Quinton Ezeagwula outside a Little Rock recruiting center has been well documented. ARRA News Service, Michelle Malkin, and The Conservative Pup have all written great articles wondering why Obama would immediately express his outrage at the murder of an abortion doctor one day, but completely ignore the murder of a young soldier just out of boot camp by an American citizen who recently converted to radical Islam. Well, he finally acknowledged the slaying of this young soldier today. He’s “deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence.” That’s it, deeply saddened. The killing of Dr. Tiller, who was well-known for performing late-term abortions, made him “shocked and outraged.” But the murder of a young soldier simply saddens him.
Not that I condone the killing of Dr. Tiller, because I certainly don’t. But how is it that the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces assigns such greater weight to his murder than that of a young man who signed over a portion his life to the service of these United States? The only plausible explanation is that the President holds the prior in much higher regard than the latter.
Yesterday we learned the organization, Secure Arkansas, was putting together a rally to show support for our troops at the scene of the heinous crime against the two soldiers. I spent this morning calling Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and 2nd District Congressman Vic Snyder’s offices to inquire as to whether they wished to issue a public statement on the terrorist attack and if they planned on having someone from their offices attend the rally.
Stunningly, none of these elected officials knew anything of the upcoming rally. Even more stunning were the responses I received from Senator Pryor’s and Representative Snyder’s offices. Pryor’s spokesman told me the Senator was still examining the information and would issue a statement once all the facts were known. I was unable to reach Kelly Neal, to whom I was directed to find out if anyone from the Senator’s office would be attending the rally. Snyder’s press secretary, Betsy Barrett said the Congressman had not yet issued a statement on the matter, but asked for more information on the rally. I emailed her the requested information, but received no further response from his office.
Senator Lincoln’s press secretary, Katie Niebaum, seemed much more concerned and far more helpful. She assured me the Senator had the soldiers’ and their families in her thoughts and prayers and was praying for a speedy recovery for Pvt. Ezeagwula. When I pressed further and asked if Senator Lincoln considered this a hate crime as defined in HR 1913, which was passed by the House and now is before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she promised to get back with me. I also asked her to find out if the Senator thought an amendment should be added to name veterans as a protected class under the bill, such as that Congressman Rooney attempted while the bill was still in committee in the House. Ms. Niebaum promptly responded with the following:
Hi John,Thank you for your call this morning. Senator Lincoln takes seriously our country’s commitment to ensuring the physical safety of all Americans, and she has voted for the hate crimes bill (which has taken various forms) in past Congresses. The bill introduced this Congress is currently pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which Senator Lincoln is not a member. Senator Lincoln will thoughtfully consider all amendments to the bill if and when that debate moves to the Senate floor.Senator Lincoln is grateful for all of our military service members and the sacrifices they and their families make to keep our nation free. Earlier today, she discussed the senseless tragedy in Little Rock with Arkansas news reporters, and said that her prayers were with the family and loved ones of Private Long and that she prayed for a full and speedy recovery for Private Ezeagwula.Senator Lincoln has consistently supported initiatives that expand the benefits for our military service members and veterans and their families, and I encourage you to check out her website for her work as recent as last month:http://www.lincoln.senate.gov/newsroom/2009-05-22-2.cfm

I would like to thank Ms. Niebaum for taking the time to respond to my concerns. Though I didn’t get a yes or no on the issue of treating veterans as a protected class in the hate crimes legislation, at least she promised Lincoln’s thoughtful consideration if we can get such an amendment introduced. I was also encouraged by Lincoln’s willingness to speak with reporters about the attack. I was unable to reach the Senator’s assistant in Little Rock to ask if she would send someone to represent her office at the rally.
I’ll be attending the rally and will report on it in a subsequent post.
EMERGENCY ALERT!! RALLY TO SUPPORT THE TROOPS!!
Hat Tip: ARRA News Service
While most of the media, elected officials, and Commander-in-Chief Obama are ignoring the terrorist attack in our state, Secure Arkansas is planning on an emergency rally to support the troops:
Secure Arkansas is planning a huge rally to support our military. It will be held on Thursday, June 4th, at 4 p.m., in front of the Army-Navy Recruiting Station at Ashley Square, corner of Reservoir Road and Rodney Parham in Little Rock. This is an emergency rally to show respect for our troops and let them know we mourn the loss of soldier Pvt. William Long and the wounding of soldier Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula.

President Has “More Effective” Method to Get Intel from Terrorists – What Is It?
by Dennis Prager on Townhall.com
In his latest address – on Guantanamo detainees – President Obama said something of extraordinary importance that seems to have been missed by the media:“I know some have argued that brutal methods like water-boarding were necessary to keep us safe. I could not disagree more…I reject the assertion that these are the most effective means of interrogation.”As this President chooses his words carefully, these claims need to be understood.Note that Mr. Obama did not say what nearly all opponents of water-boarding say – that water-boarding is not an effective method of extracting reliable, life-saving, information. He took no issue with former Vice-President Dick Cheney’s claims that water-boarding or “enhanced interrogation” saved American and other lives. Indeed, he clearly leaves open the possibility, even the likelihood, that this claim is accurate. Rather, what he says is that “methods like water-boarding were not necessary to keep us safe” – not necessary, not ineffective. And why does he believe this? Because they are not “the most effective means ofinterrogation.” In other words, the President’s view seems to be that water-boarding the three terrorists did elicit vital, life-saving, information. However, he contends that we could have obtained all that information using means of interrogation that were both non-brutal and more effective.…More |
1st Gitmo Terrorist to Be Tried in US
Obama’s administration is thumbing its nose at lawmakers, Republicans and Democrats, who this week voted to block funding for the President’s plan to shut down the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba by charging ahead to try a notorious terrorist in New York.
Democrats largely supported Obama’s decision to close the prison until it became clear the President’s plan involved bringing the murderous villains to the lawmakers’ own backyard. Suddenly, the idea didn’t seem so sound. The liberal lawmakers who previously praised the president’s plan voted not to fund the transfer earlier this week.
But the Constitution hasn’t stopped the President from enacting his radical agenda of societal reconstruction and he won’t let lawmakers concerned with housing international terrorists among their constituents stop his plan to bring the criminals home.
I have to go to work now, but update later to continue this rant.
