President Has “More Effective” Method to Get Intel from Terrorists – What Is It?

by Dennis Prager on Townhall.com

In his latest address – on Guantanamo detainees – President Obama said something of extraordinary importance that seems to have been missed by the media:

“I know some have argued that brutal methods like water-boarding were necessary to keep us safe. I could not disagree more…I reject the assertion that these are the most effective means of interrogation.”

As this President chooses his words carefully, these claims need to be understood.

Note that Mr. Obama did not say what nearly all opponents of water-boarding say – that water-boarding is not an effective method of extracting reliable, life-saving, information. He took no issue with former Vice-President Dick Cheney’s claims that water-boarding or “enhanced interrogation” saved American and other lives. Indeed, he clearly leaves open the possibility, even the likelihood, that this claim is accurate. Rather, what he says is that “methods like water-boarding were not necessary to keep us safe” – not necessary, not ineffective. And why does he believe this? Because they are not “the most effective means of

interrogation.”

In other words, the President’s view seems to be that water-boarding the three terrorists did elicit vital, life-saving, information. However, he contends that we could have obtained all that information using means of interrogation that were both non-brutal and more effective.

From the Conservative Net

This is the first of what I intend to be a weekly series.

It’s just impossible to write an original post on everything that needs covering, so each weekend I’ll post an excerpt from other blogs I follow of articles on issues that I simply couldn’t find the time to cover that week.

Haste Makes Waste: Feds Send Millions in Stimulus Checks to Dead People

The government is saying the error happened because they had to get things done in a hurry. Because of the perceived time pressure, the have sent millions of dollars in stimulus money to people like “Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago.”

The Right Stuff….

I’m so proud of Carrie Prejean. When asked her opinion about a current divisive political issue during the Miss USA pageant, she took the more difficult path of honesty. Some might have chosen the easier, more traveled path of evasiveness or outright dishonesty, but she chose the “road less traveled.” She gave her opinion in an almost apologetic way, stating clearly that she didn’t wish to offend anyone.

New York Times Reports Half The Story in Afghanistan

On today’s front page, the New York Times goes to every effort to recreate the narrative of Mai-Lai in Vietnam, only this time in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, they do so with only half the story. This much we think we know: One night last week, American forces in the middle of a drawn out battle with insurgent Taliban forces, launched an aerial attack on enemy targets. It appears many civilians were killed during the battle.

Pelosi, the CIA, and the Dems’ dangerous blame game

We had dueling press conferences this morning with Nancy Pelosi accusing the Bush CIA of lying to her about waterboarding and House GOP leader John Boehner defending the integrity of the briefers.

Pelosi had a particularly frozen look on her face throughout her presser as she repeated the “Bush lied about Iraq” mantra to justify her own inaction:

Most transparent admininstration?

Only when transparency benefits the Obama administration…or harms it’s political enemies.

That’s right, it’s becoming more and more apparent that Obama’s release of the classified “torture” memos was done purely for political purposes.  Yesterday, the CIA turned down former VP Cheney’s request to release memos that show valuable intelligence resulted from “enhanced interrogation” techniques.

From Fox News:

The CIA has turned down former Vice President Cheney’s request to release memos he says would show waterboarding and other “enhanced interrogation techniques” produced valuable information that saved lives.

CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano says an executive order signed by former President Bush forbids the agency from declassifying documents that are the subject of pending litigation. The memos Cheney wants released are the subject of two Freedom of Information Act lawsuits.

“For that reason-and that reason only-CIA did not accept Mr. Cheney’s request,” Gamigliano said.

What a crock! Obama could declassify the documents and release them just as he did with the memos he selectively chose to publicize. In fact, releasing them should resolve the FOI litigation. He could kill two birds with one stone.

The simple fact is, the released memos serve Obama’s purpose–to disparage the Bush administration, while those demanded by Cheney would undo the damage the President already inflicted. Therefore, Obama (who until now never met a Bush executive order he didn’t want rescinded), supposedly running the most transparent administration in history, only allows half the story to be told.

US barbaric? Oh, hell no…

#tcot

While the Obama administration stokes the fires of liberals’ hatred of the Bush administration with the latest evidence of the “torture” of terrorists, America’s enemies strengthen their stranglehold on their populations using tactics so cruel most US citizens can’t even imagine their level of barbarity. But the same liberals who decry the CIA practice of pouring water on the heads of captured terrorists will have to use their imagination, because the MSM won’t publicize it!

The NY Times’ editorial page will display a cartoon of the Statue of Liberty cracking a whip*, but they won’t display the almost inconceivable barbarity of those who will use that cartoon in their propaganda campaigns to foment hatred of and violence against the US and her citizens.

Warning: The following video shows the Pakistani Taliban executing a couple accused of adultery, shooting them down in cold blood.

Tell me again, liberals, how any US practices described in the “torture” memos can compare to the barbarity of these animals!

This is the nature of the enemy we fight and, yes, there will be times we must use harsh tactics to prevent the spread of their barbarous practices to our shores. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest should be praising the interrogators for protecting us from these monsters.

So liberals, get over the fact that some of these animals got a little wet during their interrogations!

*I won’t link to or publish this cartoon due to its propaganda value to our enemies.

Obama Flips on Prosecution for Interrogations

First he swore he wouldn’t, now he’s leaving the door open to prosecute those who formulated the Bush policy of enhanced interrogation techniques (aka torture according to those who seem to forget the 3,000 Americans who were murdered on 9/11.)

When he released the previously classified “torture memos,” he unequivocally stated there would be no prosecutions of those involved.  Now though, he’s ready to throw these guys to the wolves as he continues his campaign to discredit and denigrate the previous administration in order to satisfy the bloodlust of his radical left-wing base and boost his own poll numbers.

The President evidently doesn’t care, even a little, that his actions damage our ability to disrupt the plans of those who seek to murder our citizens.  He ignored calls from current and former intelligence specialists to not release these memos, and even edited his own CIA chief’s memo to exclude admissions that the enhanced interrogation techniques produced results that disrupted terror plots and led to the arrest of terrorists in our own country!

At best, he doesn’t even realize the propaganda value of this crap to the terrorists.  At worst, he realizes the benefit to our enemies, but is perfectly willing to provide it in order to sustain his own popularity!

But don’t worry America, he’s keeping his eyes on all conservatives in an effort to protect you from us!  Even though the DHS admits they can find no evidence of right-wing extremist plots, Obama thinks the best strategy for keeping you safe is to apologize to and appease those who perpetrated the most heinous attack on our homeland in history while his administration focuses its attention on his political enemies here at home.

God help us all.

What the left and the MSM won’t report…

Digg!

I received an email containing these photos that we’d never see on the MSM.  We hear all of the tragic stories on the nightly news.  Any misstep by our soldiers and Marines is splashed in every newspaper and on every news show, but the story told in these photos is never told by the supposedly objective press in our country.

Take a look!

So just remember, the MSM isn’t giving you the whole story.

While they want you to believe that our soldiers and Marines are committing every sort of atrocity known to man, and then some, these pictures show the real story of what’s happening in Iraq every day.
